trying to decide on the next pup

My beagle/jack russell mix is the coolest dog on the planet. She's got a crazy nose on her.

But sounds like you want a medium/larger dog.

My bloodhound was a yard dog/ blood dog. It would be good to have another blood dog but I'm kind of thinking coonhound to possibly thin out a major influx of coons in my hunting areas over the last few years.
So to answer... I'm not sure and I'm not set in stone on a particular breed at the moment.

I have had dogs all my life and I would recommenda mini Australian shepherd is my answer. Do some research and ask around and you will probably receive the same answer

I have owned a black mouth cur, a bluetick, and currently own 3 British labs and a catahoula, among a bunch of other dogs that I have owned. The blue tick was by far the most stubborn and difficult to train. He was a die hard hunter, but was not the greatest yard dog or family pet. The catahoula is mostly my sister's dog, and a total nut job. He listens pretty well and is very protective, he just does everything at 10000 mph. He's been known to get destructive when he's bored, but he seems like he may be growing out of that. Other catahoulas may be different, but ours is not good around kids. I mostly duck hunt now and got into the lab training and breeding. My oldest lab has hunted all types of game birds, flushed rabbits, and trailed deer. The British labs in particular do a lot better than their American counterparts when it comes to hunting and being a pet. Each of mine have a pretty solid switch from the blind to the house. With that said, if you're looking for mostly a yard dog and a blood dog, or a dog to thin out and tree coons, the BMC is the way to go. As smart as I consider my labs, he was hands down the smartest dog I've ever owned. He learned his role very instinctively at our house. He spent all day outside, but slept inside at night. Over the course of his lifetime he had zero accidents in the house. That in itself still amazes me. Great around the family and in the yard, great watch dog, and hunted super hard. Tough as hell in the woods, but just wanted to hangout when he got to the house. I will 100% own another BMC one day.

So does anyone know any blackmouth cur breeders in South Arkansas/ North Louisiana at decent prices? It'll likely be spring before I'm ready for a pup or two but I like to do my research beforehand.
