Everstart Maxx 29DC 115ah @ Walmart $100
I just replaced one on friends rig after 11yrs of trolling motor service that was abused most of its life. Boat does have onboard charger but batteries were often completely drained, never charged after a trip, and spent months between charges. The other two are still doing fine.

I've used the academy group 31's for last few years with no problems.

I 2nd interstate batteries.
Although I've had those Everstart batteries from walmart in my flatbottom boat for years. They seem to work great.
I have 3 interstate batteries in my bay boat. They have a reputation for simply being better quality.

I'm with the everstart maxx also. They're around 100 bucks and have a 2 year full replacement on them.

I use to use and recommend these exclusively because they were the best deal around but they have changed suppliers or construction. I have had problems with the last three I have bought.

There s just no way that I would not go back with optima's or another AGM battery that is close to it. Just do not see the value in anything less anymore after having them for so long. Lithium-ion is also a great option. I guess I will never buy another lead battery for anything I own. Just no value in them. It's 2017 read up on batteries before you waste anymore money on lead.

That's a pretty broad statement, and pretty ironic considering how much those newer technologies cost. No battery lasts forever, and if I know for a fact what I'm using it for is going to chew up batteries then I'm not spending $500 on a lithium for lower capacity and no added benefit.

But sealed AGM batteries are the way to go. Unless you've had them then don't comment.
Will survive way longer than any wet cell battery. Sealed means no more corroded wires and will hold a charge for longer than conventional wet celled battery.

That's their selling point...their value.
Not to mention you can't get an optima in anything over 75ah...and that's $300.

I've used AGMs, and they have their place, but again nothing is gonna come close to wet cell when it comes to amp hours per dollar. A cranking battery is one thing, trolling motor batteries are another. There is no one right battery for every application.

Bingo, and spiral cells are made to generate a lot of cranking amps by having more surface area. That's the exact opposite of what you want in a deep cycle, that extra surface area is just easier to sulfate.

I can tell those that haven't experienced AGM batteries from those that have by the comments and the attempt at justification. The 2 oldest red top optima cranking batteries I have are a 2003 or 2004 respectively. I have one on my boat (250 Merc) and the other on a 2000 Chevy 4X4 with a 350. Both have had zero cranking issues ever. For those that are bad with math, that is a 13 and a 14 year old battery that are still doing there job in a truck and a boat motor that both require more than average cranking amps. Both are used well because I am outdoors in one or the other and sometimes both every weekend. I have 4 Blue top Optima's 2 in the bass boat and two in my Aluminum boat. All 4 at least 3 years old and the oldest may be getting close to 10 years old. Zero issues ever with any of them.
