I would but I'm on my phone. Look a few pages back, jsmoke did some pretty good cliff notes. Then read my update on pg 29.

Best thread on the entire site for sure.

How hard are your cameras to find? Are they on logging roads or somewhere easily seen, random trails, over scrapes in the woods, etc? Just wondering how much snooping this arse bag had to actually do to find them and get all the cards.

He had to spend a good amount of time on the property to find them. We walk to all the stands so it not like there are four wheeler trails everywhere to follow.

I concur! It has it all; intrigue, mystery, humor, drama, malfeasance and most importantly of all, PICS!

So it isn't like they are set up beside some big arse feeder on the side of the road or anything. Even if he, or they, had a legitimate reason to go and get the cards (and I can't possibly think of a legitimate reason, as discussed earlier in the thread) they had to have already spent a lot of time on the property to know where to find them.
I think we've all known something is wrong here, but it seems like it is getting worse. If I have the timeline right, they basically went back in after the run in with your buddy and removed the cards, right? Did he happen to check them when he was there or could they have already been gone when he talked to green jeans a couple weeks ago?

Your timeline is correct. He checked them that same weekend and replaced them. They took them after he replaced them.

I'm not a hunter, what would be the point of taking the SD cards? And why is a game warden on private property?
Posted on 12/22/10 at 9:39 pm to Golfer
Taking the sd cards would allow him to see what type of deer are on my property so that he can hunt it when I'm not there. He can enter my property because he is a game warden but he can't tamper with or take my cameras/memory cards.

To check for violations. But, this dude is overboard.

Its private property. Am I missing something here?
I don't have the IRS randomly knocking on my door making sure I'm preparing my 1099's properly...
Are hunters generally okay with this? I'd understand if this was on public land...but this is just strange.

It's bullshite, but generally accepted. The whole "open fields doctrine" applies here in regards to the 4th amendment.
Game wardens are, in my opinion, some of the more frequent violators of liberty because of the perceived special rights they think they have. There is a lot of hogwash spread through urban legends about the powers of game wardens but most of it is untrue.
What is true is their legal ability to enter private property...it's a bullshite interpretation of the 4th amendment and an infringement on the private property rights of the land owners, but Americans don't really care that much about rights anymore anyway.

The reason they have that right is because game belongs to everyone. Even though it is your private property, it has public property on it. If the federales think you are illegally taking public property (at night, over the limit, etc.) they have the right to intervene on the public's behalf. 99% of game wardens are very careful about not abusing this right.
It serves us (the public) much better in the long run for state and federal agents to have this ability. Otherwise, we've have a system like in Europe where all the land AND the game is privately owned and we'd all be a bunch of Robin Hoods. And all the corporate types down on the Amoco lease south of Gueydan would still be killing 100 ducks a day and feeding them to the roughnecks on the rigs!
P.S. Green Jeans, you're in the 1%

Yes. Wardens are allowed to check for things like baiting or over the limit shooting. Whether it is private or public land.

I think you and I will just have to accept that we have differing political opinions on the issue.

Yeah, it all depends on if you think the government is evil and that private property trumps all, or if you actually believe that government has some benefits and the private sector needs to be watched.
I'm definitely in the second camp. When corporate negligence kills a family member, you start to see it that way.
