I drive a ‘16 Taco. Love it. I listen to the Epic Outdoors podcast. They’re a western big game information service based out of Utah. They beat the hell out of their trucks. Several of them give the Colorado high ratings. They like the ride.

Tacoma unless you are tall.

Not as capable as a body on frame truck but plenty capable for me!
I don't understand this statement. The specs are what they are, there's nothing about body on frame that makes it inherently better or worse. I had a 95 Ranger I replaced with a 2006 Ridgeline, and there was nothing that the Ranger was better at despite being body on frame.

Buddy of mine has a '24 Tacoma TRD Pro and the inside isn't that impressive.
Toyota truck interiors are notoriously behind in styling and amenities, and that's coming from a Tacoma fanboy. Of course, back in the day, I think that was part of the draw. I think back to an old 70 series cruiser that my then girlfriend drove in college, and that thing was bare bones. All the value came in the build quality and longevity, not in the bells and whistles like digital readouts.
But the fact is that now, people want a car with a high-quality user interface and appealing form factor in the cab, and Toyota is pretty behind in those areas.

I'm assuming you weren't doing a ton of offroading or hauling. And I"ll admit that 90% of the people who go "offroading", unibody vs. body-on-frame doesn't really matter.

2023 Ridgeline
I know we all joke about these, but a buddy's dad has one of these and it tows stupidly well. He's not the most country fellow and decided to use it rather than the denali to pull his trailer and tractor out by us.
All rural, maybe 3 stop signs, about 25 miles of flat back roads... But that tractor, trailer, and bush hog is easily 11k lbs

It was a 5 speed Ranger with the 3.0, not an F-150. The Ridgeline had a greater tow rating and load capacity despite the Ranger being body on frame.
One of the 1st Gen Ridgelines won the Baja one year in the stock class. That means wheels & shock mods are allowed and that's about it, these aren't the tube frame race trucks with plastic panels that say "Tacoma" strapped to them, it's the same truck you buy at the dealership with a wheel & suspension package. What is the truck going to do offroad in NW Florida that's worse than Baja?

What do you mean with "body on frame"? Also what is wrong with a turbo especially if it is something 2.0 or bigger?
I have been looking a mid-size SUV's and getting a mid-size truck could be an option also. Most of the mid-size SUV's have turbo engines.

For most people it’s a question of reliability. The turbo 4’a can make the power the truck needs, but no one knows if it will last right now.

I am close to 6'3 and around 240 pounds and Tacoma cab is too damn small. I had to get out and find a Tundra

So is dodge/RAM getting back in the midsized truck market with a redo of the Dakota trucks?? Google 2025 Dakota and saw some stuff but somethings advertised, just never get built.
