My dad and I are going there next week. He used to fish there a lot by the state park, but not in 20 years. We are bank pounders in a bass tracker, no electronics. Anyone want to let me know what the fish are doing so I can put my dad on some that would be appreciated.

Search “miliken fishing” on YouTube. Guy just won the BASS open out there.

Try to find the shad spawn early. Get out the wind the rest of the day. Good luck

Carolina rig off points
Had a 100 fish day in April one year throwing cotton candy lizards on a c-rig to sand humps near the bridge. No big ones though.

Be sure to have a few white bellied Rebel pop-R’s in the boat. Hit the banks/docks from daybreak until the sunshine starts then at dusk again. Don’t set the hook until you feel her and enjoy the trip!

I'm not sure about the Louisiana side but on the Texas side Housen has a lot of grass. We caught them this past weekend working main lake points on the edge of grass lines with a carolina rig (brush hogs) and some on a rattle trap.
