Looking to take my dad and son on a guided crappie trip at Toledo sometime in the next year or so. I am open on when we go, but want to go at the best time to catch fish. I mostly saltwater fish, but want to do something different. Will be renting a place to stay and hiring a guide, so I am looking for recommendations on both.

Thanks

They are doing very well right now. Living the Dream guide service seems to be the most reputable.

If LTD is booked up, try Brandon Baker at ADCO rod and red repair and guide service. He used to be with LTD but went out on his own. We always used him when he was at LTD and still use him now.

A lot of them don't clean the fish, so you may want to look into that. What area will you be staying?

Any other recommendations? What time of year is generally the best?

Thanks

Ben

I went a few weeks ago with a guide and we did pretty well. The hotter times of the year are generally better because they stay tighter to the tops.

Check out Butch Covington. Always had success with him and he does clean your fish.

Know several who have had great success with Livin the Dream; I think there's also another guy named Noah Garcia that is a reputable name on TB.

I would just call a few places and see what they've been doing. If you wanna be the heat, then obviously you'll have to wait until later in the year. I know at some point they'll stack up in the river channel near the mouth of Patroon and when it's on, the boats will line up out there.

The chicken coop. That is not generally a summer time bite.

LTD does a good job, but they'll clip you for about 700 bills.

$700 for a crappie trip, seems high. Their website says $475 for a day trip. Are there add ons?

I thought the going rate was about $400 minimum and $100/person over 4 people. We had 8 on a trip last year and it was $800 even. I was just along for the ride and don't remember the guide's name.

I paid $450 for 4 people earlier this month. Any additional peeps would have been $100. I would have paid $550 if he would have cleaned the fish.
