I’ve hunted on Togo several times as a guest at BuckRun HC. It was near the end of the road by the gate to Paradise HC. The deer hunting was outstanding and I’d love to go back. That club was dissolved when Togo was sold a few years ago. Many members had been hunting there since the 60’s/70’s when they lost it. It was a special place that was lost to big money.
I spent many weekends on Togo. My grandfather is one of the guys you’re talking about. I bet he could count on his hands how many weekends he wasn’t leading the horse drives since about 1967.
They had an awesome deal down there for a long time.

No, the last few years they’ve hunted on William Walker’s place on the LA side of the river in East Carroll Parish (as well as AR and MS. It’s 8-9000 acres of privately owned land.

I remember an older man named George that had his own camp adjacent to the camp house. He called it the Rats nest. He’d been hunting down there since the 60’s until his death. Him and his wife had their own box stand called the honeymoon box. I’m sure there was a story behind that.

I always had a fascination as a kid with getting to gun hunt Louisiana during Mississippi muzzle loader season. And all we had to do was cross a ditch.

Cottonmouth is actually in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. It’s a large piece of ground on the river that they lease. The property that is in Belzoni sold a while back. It was called River Run.

It’s also not actually Cottonmouth, but called Cottonwood. The primos guys call it Cottonmouth for TV.

Before Bill Walker , founder of Bill's dollar stores, bought that hunting/ fishing paradise 40 years ago the Arkansas club was Buckshot , the La. club was Nyanza and the Ms.club was Sarah Island ( on La. side of Ms. River). Nyanza was in middle and connected to other 2. .In jeep (pre 3-4 whelers) could be at hunting camps in 3 states within minutes without leaving dirt road.. Great high school years at Nyanza way back in the day.

Probably the same area. The club I’d go to was just past the hard left in the road. Karnac lake was right there even though it wasn’t much more than a ditch when the river was low.

It is definitely still a very special place. My family are members now. I understand that it takes a large sum to become a member, but that does not make the place any less special. Everyone in there that I have gotten to know have been A+ people. I hate that your friends lost it, I have been through that and know exactly how it feels.
