Todd has a new YouTube channel, MarshManMasson. He already has some pretty good stuff on there. I just bought this $350 rod and he has a video with him catching fish with a pvc pipe.

Challenge: Catching fish with a PVC pipe

I gave him a subscribe.

He's a really nice guy and I've been on a boat with him a couple times. Its his job to report but I've seen him piss some people off when he gives up some fish that another rec. fisherman has dialed in due to hardwork and time.

My only problem with Todd is it's the same people in his articles and videos. Every other paragraph is matrix shad, etc. I don't watch them. Nor would I want him to fish with me and blast my spots on social media.

I could name 2-3 soft plastics that work better

If they are better than Matrix Shad I'd like to hear about them. There isn't much I can think of that will out produce a chartreuse Matrix Shad. Maybe vudu shrimp under a cork.

I'm not a fan of gimmicks but I'm pretty sold on ms.

no you couldn't. Not with some semblance of measurable accuracy at least. Particularly considering how similar most lures are these days. There's only so many ways to skin a cat.

The bottom line is the products work, and they were designed and developed by a group of guys from southeast Louisiana for the fish in southeast Louisiana. The original Matrix Shad wasn't designed in a day. That lure was tested for almost two years before it was put into production, and it works across a wide variety of fisheries. Just because some bait company gave you a sticker to put on your kayak doesn't make their product better than something that's probably more proven than any bait southeast Louisiana anglers have ever seen.

If you've got an issue with Todd blowing up spots, that's cool. Understandable. That said, don't come out dogging a bait company founded by a dude who makes it a point to help people become better anglers literally every single day, who just so happened to design a really good product that works incredibly well for its intended purpose.

Quit that shite on me trashing matrix. I never have done that. I fish with some of them. Baits in my opinion that are better are slayer plastics out of Florida. They are softer and have better action. Another bait I love is Z man trout tricks. I happy for Chas and his success, but that bait isn't the only game in town.

No I couldn't??? Just did

Puglias in Metairie has them in good supply. Not too far if you venture north a little

I came to complain about matrix not getting bites when paca craw was. Now I see they make crawfish baits. Guess I’ll go buy some

I haven't picked up a baitcaster in an embarrassingly long amount of time. I've known the guys that designed the lure for longer than the lure has existed. My conventional tackle box has nothing but matrix shads and topwaters. I saw that bait get tested ad nauseaum from some of the best fishermen I've ever met for almost two years on every species of fish we have. I've also seen a lot of the other cool "pro staff" baits come about over the years, and I've never seen anything that objectively worked better, especially in southeast Louisiana. Any contention otherwise is laughable.

Like I said, hate on Todd for blowing up spots all you want. That's totally understandable. That said, I immediately doubt the credibility and on-water experience of anyone who tries to argue that there's another bait better for our waters than a matrix shad.

The matrix craws and paca craws are effectively the same mold.

That's your opinion which is totally fine. I think two baits in particular are better. Does that make me right or you right?? No.
