Especially those that don't know how to properly store them and keep them in good hands

I lied to y'all. I gave it away to an anonymous friend in exchange for my manhood back.

I take it you recommend a kayak? Not a bad way to start. Even if you don't fish much you can still enjoy paddling around and exploring new areas.

If you have never hunted you may want to get a .22 rifle and start doing some shooting. It will help get your eye and balance in shape.
I shoot my .22 as much as I can. Lots cheaper than bigger cartridges.

What do u do for a living? I ask because your customers and vendors might be a source for you to start. You could get a guide as well.
Eta: don't take customers kayaking or they will never respect you.

Find some friends that hunt and go with them. Understanding safety is a huge must, this goes beyond just your gun. Want to keep yourself protected from the elements.
As far as fishing goes, I always like to fish with guides in a new area to help me learn.
It's all expensive but well worth it

How much money do you make? I can teach you how to shoot at anything.
Whether you kill or not is up to you.

Not a hippie, but I know a few. I work in the lab at a local hospital/ working on a master's. In the next year I'll be in a better position to pick up hunting and fishing having more time and all.
