Been looking at the H20 & H22. What's the OB's opinion on these boats?

Express boats are the darlings of the OB. Not my thing but to each their own.

Which one did y'all get? If don't mind my asking, what did it cost you?

My dad has one. Not sure what model but bought it new in 11'. He has the Yamaha 150 2 stroke and has issues with that motor.

I've heard some bad reviews on some of the older boats. Lots of cracks and warping and they won't fix them under warranty.

This was my response in the other thread where OP was looking at a used Xpress.

*2011 model and this situation happened about a month ago

quote:

Long story long - My buddy has a 16ft Xpress side console. Had a slow leak in it for a few years, leak got very bad when we were on Toledo a while back and was filling up the rear compartment almost sinking the boat. We got back and looked around, we found a 4" crack up towards the front on the passenger side. There was about 1ft diameter of hull that was warped and flexing around the crack.

He calls Xpress and they tell him to get fricked. He told them the only reason he bought that boat was the "lifetime warranty on the hull". They say there is no such thing, the lifetime warranty is only on the welds on the transom.

He got the crack welded up a few weeks ago for $120 and boat is dry as a bone, but the welder told him to be expecting it to happen again in the distant future with that warped patch of metal flexing. Just a heads up

Are there any of the aluminum bay boats that y'all would recommend?

SeaArk makes a solid bay boat. Life Tyme bay boats look solid but I've never seen one up close. Metal Shark boats (Gravois) look extreme fine. I've been on the SeaArk and for a more factory, less expensive boat, they are a good package.

Lowe boats.....I own a Lowe bass boat; awesome. Wide front area, plenty of storage for my needs and rides pretty good.

I never see anyone talk about Excel boats, I compared it to the Xpress at the boat show and it was definitely a better "looking" boat, same price, even same dealer.

I would recommend most aluminum boats, including xpress, as long as you aren't one of these knuckleheads that thinks it's ok to take it out on Lake P with 15 mph winds. A 2 ft chop will wreak havoc on most aluminum boats.

Had to send my Xpress back to factory to be repainted. Brand new boat, and first time in the water all the paint peeled off the bottom of hull. Other than that it's been great.
