people didn't eat bass and there are folks that actually run around saying bass don't taste good.

Similar to the ones that say marlin is bad, but rave over swords.

but they were concerned with mis-identification. Its easy to identify a spot...

I’ve never understood how anyone who spends minimal time on the water can misidentify between these two.

I do agree with you about spots over-running largemouth populations. I’ve seen it on Hartwell, Russell and Clarks Hill.

Clarks Hill should be fine in the future as all the trees down on the shorelines from last years storms will give LM fry better cover to hide in but man if they would just let the hydrilla back in, nature would balance itself

I eat a lot of bass. The small ones (less than 2 lbs) fry up just fine. They don’t taste as good as crappie though.

Bass have a very firm meat, which makes them excellent when blackened or grilled. My favorite is to blacken them in olive oil on stovetop.

I know a spot before it even gets in the boat. So distinctive. It is puzzling how people struggle with it.

I’ve been told that they are perfectly fine substitute for grilled redfish on the half shell. I cannot confirm nor deny, but intend to try sometime this summer.

I love bass as much as anyone and I'll agree that if redfish isn't available, bass on the half shell is good but those two, in that application, aren't close. Very subjective opinion but if all I have is bass then I'm frying it.

As good as small LMB tastes, spotted bass taste better. It's the best tasting of the black bass family.

I love them as much or more than anything else, at the perfect size of course. It reminds me exactly of that good solid white bream meat.

Pound, pound and a half bass and sacs in the 3/4 lb range are 1A, 1B rated in either order. Fried, in a skillet, broiled, no better fish on a plate down here.

Specks are company fish and I’ll only eat a catfish fried. Bream are good but not enough juice for the squeeze
