Do you tie your swivel and hook on leader or use the clamps?
The guy I was fishing with last wknd used the clamps and I liked it.

quote:What is the significance to the bead? I have the same setup for my Carolina rigs, minus the beads
trout/redfish set up Carolina rig. I go bead weight bead, swivel, 40lb leader, sharp hook

I tie, never used clamps before

protects the knot from the sinker and adds a little noise

I tie, no clamps.
I like to think the bead adds a clicking sound mimicking a shrimp flicking, plus it protects the knot

With live bait, I have a special knot my dad showed me that you tie and it gives you a small dime sized loop for more movement

yea I always do the double bead. when the 2 hit the weight it makes a clicking sound. good for jigging a barely alive croaka, shrimp or gulp shrimp. I get my wife to pick the beads up at hobby lobby, they are really cheap there. Usually use red(dont know why, dad always did)

leader has a lot of memory so what I have is an old piece of insulation board pictured below but cut about a foot and a half long. hook the hook into the foam on one end and hook the swivel onto an embedded piece of coat hanger on the other.

I like that... Might have to scoop me up a piece of insulation somewhere.
