Just curious.

The inlaws have two of my kids and I am fishing tomorrow morning at 530.

Yes. Especially if the weather and water conditions match up.

Do the tables pertain to fishing in small ponds, also?

Very accurate. I will say you can still have good periods of time when they show “poor”. For example early morning. Usually a decent to good bite as sun is starting to peek up. Ends quickly on a “poor” day. Definitely exceptions to “poor”.

It can also be dead wrong. I don’t fish enough to give anybody a percentage of how often it’s right/wrong; maybe when I’m retired. In the meantime I look at it as more of a helpful hint than anything solid.

a few years ago I started using the hunt fish function on my garmen GPS I was really surprised that it was obviously accurate. Now I use it often. Grab a few baits ride to the landing sit in a chair and tight line catfish fun relaxing way to get out of the old lady's hair. Most of the time it was sit for a couple hours nary a bite. Adding the gps info leave home half or before the "Best" Time and always come hoe with supper. Very obvious improvement.

The key is to target bodies of water where the fish are smart enough to read and comprehend the solunar table

I don't doubt it offers an improvement over just randomly going, but it's definitely a soft science. The various calendars don't even always agree on what the "best" time is, so there are obviously some assumptions that go into the algorithms. I use them, I'm just not terribly surprised when my results don't match the predictions.

And it may very well be that some species are more predictable than others. I pretty much target bass and redfish exclusively so I'm not drawing from a broad experience.
