I would love to build two 5 foot pirogues for crawfish boils. One to hold drinks and another to hold the crawfish.

This can be done. In fact, one of my nephews asked me to build one around 6'. That way more people can eat at one time. I would build it with a seat/ shelf in the center to put drinks and what not and extra large handles on each end to hold drinks/what not's and paper towels.

When I went to pick up the plywood from the first build, they sent me one sheet that was thicker then 1/4". I might use that just for the hell of it. If I do, I will post it up.

That is nice. If I build one, I might take all the rake out the bottom to sit flat. But that would make it look like crap.

To seal it, I would use a clear epoxy(non bluest), thinned out so it would soak into the wood.

Perhaps some little detachable feet to support the bow and stern and keep it from rocking...

Or just use it with saw horses.

I will see if I can draw up some plans that will work out.

why would you want to serve crawfish in a pirogue? what ever happened to the tried and true method of pouring them out down a long table covered in newspaper?

The one picture above is a party pirouge. He made it to put drinks in.

I have seen some people put crawfish in them but, at the dyslexic house, crawfish are treated to a nice bed of news paper on an old table that I got from the KC hall.

This makes more sense.

I'd used my fiberglass pirogue for the bigger crawfish boils at work. I was looking at smaller one for the house boils.

This is like the one I use for work.

This is like the one for the house. btw people pay up to $250 a piece for the smaller one's

My way

Will be picking up some snow crabs on the way home when I get this dam needle out my arm and they will be served in those big round plastic trays.

Honestly, now that I have seen a picture, I see the advantage of the smaller ones. It keeps the crawfish contained away from the empty shells and allows them to be piled deep so they stay warm.

It also adds a little La flair.

Only problem is whoever brought Limarita's to the party. Throw their butts out.

OK guys. All that attend the build, my daughter took a bunch of pictures and put them on a DVD. If you want a copy, email me your address and I will snail mail them. Way to big of a file to email.
