Ah...yea it was two weeks ago
The Dylan Poche Memorial was the big tourney this past weeked. Along with at least 2 other 100+ boat tournament.

think there is a bigger problem in this country with not keeping than keeping too many.
I feel there are differences in where you are catching said bass. In a lake or river, I say keep what you want. In a small refuge like lacassine where last year they were catch and release because of low numbers and then this year they are all out again, I would say catch and release.
LDWF is not the greatest at management and as a state we are way behind Texas in that regard.
Lacassine refuge and more have been mismanaged for years due to many factors.
Most areas I would say keep what the limit says within reason but we all know too many outlaws around here that ruin it for everyone

The biologists for LDWF know what they are doing. They make recommendations but never get listened to. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.
As far as bass, many lakes need fish taken out of them but people throw them back. The slot limits are put in place for the sole reason that fish are expected to be taken out of the population.
Toledo is one of the few bodies of water that are truly affected by people taking bass out the population
I don’t agree it’s overfished. About 50 or more percent of Lacassine is inaccessible Can’t even get to the fish

Caught two decent bass and 8 white perch at Bundick’s Lake this evening in about two hours. Never saw another person on the south end of the lake. May be worth the trip. But probably not. This was an outlier. Usually only get a few small cats. Was a good day.

Agree, Lacassine should have went back slow, 3 Bass w/ 1 over 3lb would have been a good option for this season. Then another reevaluation.

YOU ARE ON THE WRONG SIDE. LA. KILLED ALL OF THEIR GRASS. GO WEST YOUNG MAN, TO THE TEXAS SIDE. THE WATER AND GRASS ARE FINE.

Seems funny that the last Bassmaster tournament, 8 out of the final 10 fished Housen Bay. Where there is plenty of grass.

Actually have found better and more grass on LA side so far this spring.
Posted on 4/1/26 at 10:28 am to VernonPLSUfan
Historically Housen has always been a hot area since the 70's so that a mute point.

quote:Yes, there is plenty of grass there. I was not disputing that. Louisiana did not kill their grass. The loss of hydrilla was due to several factors. "Spraying" was not one of them.

Hard to believe that the weather could wipe out acres of the thickest hydrilla I’ve ever seen. Love fishing south end Toledo but not much grass La. side. Enlighten me on the whereabouts of this beautiful, magical lake grass.

Damn near every lake in Louisiana is over pressured! Everyone has bought a boat and are acting like pirates
Posted on 4/1/26 at 12:44 pm to VernonPLSUfan
Do you realize how much herbicide it would take to have killed all the hydrilla on Toledo bend?
We had 500 year floods back to back and then droughts That’s what killed the hydrilla

When you see LDWF or TPWD spraying out there, they are spraying salvinia which gets tangled up in that hay grass (also a non native but that’s beside the point)
Hydrilla is non native but isn’t a target out there. Hay grass isn’t a target either
You don’t want salvinia taking over that place like it has about 10 lakes north of Toledo

They don't want to hear that. Muh spraying!

How is possible to have 1000 years of flooding in 10 years?!?!?!?!
