I’m heading to Hackberry the first of October with my new Hobie Compass. It will be my first time fishing Big Lake in a kayak (have fished there before though), so hopefully I will luck up and get on some fish.
Is Dugas Landing still open? I was thinking of hitting Joe’s Cove one day. I will also likely go to West Cove and Choupique. I mainly wanting to target flounder.

Dugas is still open and shitty as ever. Joe’s is one of my favorite areas to fish. Should be able to find some flatties in the cuts back there

Yes Dugas is open like DC said but I’ve never launched there just not any real “yak spots” close enough for me to use it
Joes coves is always a good choice, I’ve only caught a handful of flounder at Choupique just reds and not 1 spec
Not sure ya dates but West cove will close the marsh area Oct 15 for duck season
We’ve been doing well in Hackberry areas
For door mats

Some of the marsh at the camp canal is not in the refuge. It's not a lot, but those cuts are my favorite part anyway.

Dropped in at night again to beat the heat. Had 4 come unbuttoned before I could manage to get one in the net, then landed my next 3 and released a few after. It was still 82* after midnight and muggy as all get out.

Who all will be at P&P tomorrow night?

I will be in Hackberry Sept 30- Oct 2, so the marsh south of the West Cove canal should be open. I’ve never fished that marsh- mainly the marsh off of old camp canal.

Just as a heads up some of that is posted now. The first 500 yards or so is still open. Its split between two leases. The guy who leases the front doesn't care about people fishing out there, but the guy who owns the back has been running people out of there so just be aware.

Is there a line on the maps that shows this?

I saw a post on Facebook from the guy whose family leases the first 500 yards- someone (probably the guy south of him) posted a “no trespassing” sign at the mouth of the canal.

I’ll be there Wednesday but I wish I could win that yak Saturday... Even though they’re 3 hours and 45 mins away I still like going down there. I tried to call a native dealer closer to me to get my propel drive serviced and they just weren’t real interested in helping. The food down there and quality service is worth the drive.

I think I may have changed my mind and am now looking at the ATAK 120 from Wilderness Systems. Saw it in person and sat in it and I really liked it.

I always liked the ATAC, spend yrs in a Radar 135 and the ATAC as a lot of the same features
AirPro seat is fantastic on long days and flex pod makes it easy to mount a fish finder/transducer & battery in 1 spot
What kinds of fishing ya doing?

Bass and crappie fishing mainly but I am open for other types somewhere down the road. I am itching to get one and get in the water I can't stand it.
Quick question: I see that the Helix pedal drive is compatible with the Radar kayak from wilderness systems but would it be compatible with the ATAK? I noticed there looked to be a spot where pedal drive could be installed but I am not sure.
I don't plan on getting that pedal drive when I get kayak, may wait a bit bc that thing is pricey.

Like Alx no unfortunately, if ya plan on adding pedals later then I was serious look at the Radar
It’s basically the same rig without the front storage area, honestly I don’t understand why they wouldn’t just give you that option to add pedals on that boat

My thoughts as well, now I am eyeing the Radar 135 lol. These kayaks just seem endless.

Have a buddy selling his Native Titan 12 in Lafayette. He just dropped the price to $1600. He's hardly used it and it has some upgrades.

I still can't believe it hasn't sold, $1600 is a steal.
