I'm not real familiar with the Lake Hermitage area or Happy Jack.

I've only fished Myrtle Grove out of a buddy's boat. I think the only place to launch is at the Myrtle Grove Marina ($10 i think). You should be able to fish in the canals near the marina by the houses/camps.

South Plaquemines Elementary School: Google maps

Other spots along Hwy 23 that I've launched the yak

Grand Bayou Road (commando launch): Google maps

Duvic Pump Rd launch ($10 honor box): Google Maps

ETA: last time I launched at the Duvic Pump launch, I caught more reds than any other trip in my life. Lot of rats, but some good 18-24" mixed in. All on gold spoon along the bay shoreline near the mouth of the canal where the launch is at

Did any good at Lake Hermitage?

I stunk it up this weekend. Fished both tournaments this weekend and didnt weigh a single fish. Only my 2nd time in Leeville and 3rd trip to PAC. Guess I need to learn those areas a lot better

ETA: if you’re looking for someone to go with down Hwy 23..... tigerprawntd at yahoo

I stayed relatively close to the launch today. Covered about 12 miles yesterday and was taking today a little easier. Started past the nets. Fished marsh to the right and along main canal and went almost to Grand Bayou before turning back. Hit the nets and the horse bayou coming back. Then tried along the power lines and the canal by PAC’s fishing pier before finally giving up.

Were you in Lake Chien going that far south?

No but close. You didn’t go far enough. I even thought about going to the sulfur mines. My legs surprisingly don’t feel too bad

Sulphur mine is about 12-13 mile round trip from PAC. I want to try there but definitely want to make sure I’m on fresh legs that day

Most of the people I talked to at MC were either skunked or only had 1 or 2 fish. I stuck around for the weigh in and winning stringer was about 20 lb and lower end of the top 20 was 9+ lb.

Heard people were catching today at PAC but I didnt stick around for the weigh in, so not sure what the final tallies were

MC is a super hard tournament. I remember one really bang up year 6 or 7 years back but besides that there’s no water, super cold and no fish.

Some solid weights for top three today. Matt had 7.7, I had 7.3, and Kalon had 7.1. I had like 8.9 for minimalist and finished 23rd. 3 years ago was the last goood minimalist where lots of trout were caught

Nope, I got skunked at Lake Hermitage. I went south and had to stay along the main canal. The ponds were too shallow to paddle. I had one blow up late in the afternoon on a top water but missed it. I tried top water, matrix shad, gold spoon, and dead shrimp on a popping cork. I will send you an email with my contact information.

Did the PAC run Sat morning despite my better judgement knowing the north wind was gonna screw everything up but was the only day to make a run for the next couple of weeks, so shite on it went to wet a line needless to say
Water was low, dirty, 45* and winds still at 15+
had to stick to the main channels found 1 red but mostly disappointment
Did manage to see some cool wildlife and white can buzz
Golden Eagle was the highlight of the day

Sorry that you didn’t catch more, but thanks for the pic of the eagle. I don’t think that I’ve ever seen one in the wild. Will keep an eye for one the next time I’m at PAC.

What do you guys think about the new St. Croix Mojo Yak rods? I haven't been able to get my hands on one locally to check it out.

FYI, Academy has Magellan Fish Bags on sale for $9.99 right now. They usually retail for $60 and other brands are over $100.

Cenla guys, don’t bother going. I bought all three they had in stock.

Eta: according The the LCKFC Facebook page they are out in Lake Charles as well.

Me and CG are heading to Indian Creek tomorrow to see if we can't find some bass or perches around. Where are you heading?
