Craziest thing I've ever seen here. The reason i loathe my Marlin is due to how hard it is to cycle. and remain able to follow up. It might as well be a single shot.

Pull trigger, pull hand down, back up, shoot again.

There are plenty of short barreled bolt guns.

I don't own any. I own a 7mm Mag with a 26" barrel, which is 10" longer than my 30/30.

Do they really happen that often?

Nope. And I won't argue that a 742 is worse than a lever, but my 742 is longer and heavier. That doesn't really bother me though.

Same for lever guns.

Does your right hand not function properly?

Jesse James also used a Navy Colt
John W Hardin also had a Colt Lighting (junk)
Not sure on Garret
Roosevelt also used a DA New Army Colt in .38 Long Colt
Wayatt Earp also used a SAA Colt

More than likely, no one knows the amount each weastern figure used each model of gun.

I'll use buckshot if i cant shoot more than 30 yards. I have a gun that shoots it extremely well though.

Slickback was the only one to ever lay eyes on that big bastard IRL.

And he missed.

Sometimes we do still use buckshot, but some shots are a bit farther than buckshot can handle.

Btw, many shotguns are a dream to carry too.

I use a Marlin 336C because I inherited it, and it does everything I want it to do. Where I hunt whitetails... a shotgun with slugs would work equally well.
