To get a shorter, slimmer, and easier to carry gun you're pretty much narrowed down to a single shot. The 336 is still very popular for a reason, and definitely not because it's "cool." Its about as un-cool as you can get these days.

It's cool to you. Just like the old .45 which was a really shitty gun over all.

It means everything it does is done better by something else. It's pretty much a terrible platform by today's standards. People love the idea of it though. It is without question the worst gun I've ever owned. I only keep it in case my son wants it later.

The old .45 is cool because it re-wrote history. Im not going to tell you that its good for anything these days.

The 336 OTOH has not been outclassed by anything yet. Yours must be a lemon because mine shoots 1" or better groups at 100 yards. You dont hunt like i do, which you have to do to fully appreciate how good it is in that application. Nothing carries as well and brings as much arse as a 336. It just plain works.

Yes, but by some sort of weird accident. There was a better gun back then that did not catch on. Pretty sure a government contract deal.

It's not a lemon. It shoots fine. I am not talking about the model. I'm talking all lever guns.

I am not telling you to shoot something else.

Well, my model 700 is slightly more accurate
All bolt actions chamber flatter shooting rounds
A single shot rifle is more compact, easier to carry, but so is a pistol
An auto loader puts more lead in the air faster

All that said this is one gun and not 4 guns, so as a package, I say good job.

The SAA was what the troops carried. The govn't definitely had a hand in its popularity. Still a cool arse gun though and undeniably has a place in the history booka.

As far as lever guns go, ive never hunted with one other than a 336. Its certainly not an obsolete design. You have to carry it all day to appreciate it. It might be worthless for how you hunt, but its unbeatable for the way i hunt.

The only thing that contests it is a handi-rifle, and i like insurance shots.

Name of said gun?

I'm not saying it isn't true, but not saying it is.
