I got the stuff in bulk from a tackle shop and made them. 300 lb mono, crimps, swivels with the hooks, and of course the weights. Total came out to under $60, and I got a three dozen out of it. Rig em rights run about $30 for a dozen so I figure I saved a third

Online you can get the rig em right 4 oz weight kit which makes 3 dozen for $14. Was hoping I could find them around town for that much but not looking like it.

Do this. You can get everything you need at Superior Bait and Tackle, I buy my 2 oz egg weights for this all the time. Crimps there, leader material in different sizes, etc. I'd use 200lb - 250 lb mono

Beat me to it. The most expensive item will be a crimping tool but you can probably improvise. We were at the camp without any tools and crimped with a pen hammer.

Bought a back up one real cheap at harborfreight years ago. Bought it just for the hell of it at the time for the boat. Really didn't think it would work, but it did. Paid around $12 for it. Not SS though.

I got everything at Superior Tackle. They are very low on weights so I would go tomorrow.

I made my own a few weeks ago

Bought 14 pounds of weights off eBay which was the most expensive thing

This won't help your cause though

FWIW, I didn't use swivels at all and they seemed to work fine during teal season

Didn't even occur to me to use a swivel. What would a swivel do?

I've seen swivels at bottom to hook a dozen together at a time.

Not sure on the swivel

The rig em rights have them, maybe it keeps the line from twisting and being more prone to tangling

My lines are very short so they don't tangle much anyway

I put a loop in the line, top and bottom, one below the weight to allow the weight to slide

The top loop goes through the hole in the keel

How much are the weights going for? I don't have egg sinker mold, but have bottom rig(bank) molds in the 6 oz and 8 oz. Maybe make some to sell cheaper then any store sells them if anybody is intersted. It is what I use on my decoys. Could ship thru USPS.

I'd eliminate the swivel, only advantage would be if you take your weights off your dekes at the end of season. Just one more thing in line to f up. But I knew there was something on the end for a clip. Only used them a couple of times and they used to light of mono and they got tangled as frick. But I've got some with 300# line and the sack gremlins figure out how to tie them in knots too.

I bought some tanglefree brand decoy line and their crimps to make mine

Maybe would have been cheaper at the tackle store but it wasn't too expensive

The only problem I could see about using these things is that if you are hunting deeper water or open water, the wind would sail your decoys. And also WTF you do if your hands get cold as shite? Trying to clip or unclip would be painful.

Clip what?

You make a loop at the bottom to clip to a carabiner or similar, it's pretty easu

And you make them long enough for the water you hunt in

I don't roam around, I'm never in more that 2' of water
