Texas Rig Decoy Weights Material

Acadmey had them the other day. shite is high. I think they wanted like $30 for 12.

Online you can get the rig em right 4 oz weight kit which makes 3 dozen for $14. Was hoping I could find them around town for that much but not looking like it.

Do this. You can get everything you need at Superior Bait and Tackle, I buy my 2 oz egg weights for this all the time. Crimps there, leader material in different sizes, etc. I'd use 200lb - 250 lb mono

Bought a back up one real cheap at harborfreight years ago. Bought it just for the hell of it at the time for the boat. Really didn't think it would work, but it did. Paid around $12 for it. Not SS though.

Didn't even occur to me to use a swivel. What would a swivel do?

I've seen swivels at bottom to hook a dozen together at a time.

I put a loop in the line, top and bottom, one below the weight to allow the weight to slide

The top loop goes through the hole in the keel

I'd eliminate the swivel, only advantage would be if you take your weights off your dekes at the end of season. Just one more thing in line to f up. But I knew there was something on the end for a clip. Only used them a couple of times and they used to light of mono and they got tangled as frick. But I've got some with 300# line and the sack gremlins figure out how to tie them in knots too.

The only problem I could see about using these things is that if you are hunting deeper water or open water, the wind would sail your decoys. And also WTF you do if your hands get cold as shite? Trying to clip or unclip would be painful.
