Any recs for a good deer hunt. Not looking to kill a 170 and spend 8 grand. Would like to keep it around 3k. Lodging is not a must as I enjoy pulling my camper and cooking for myself. TIA

I did a management hunt for 3k-ish at AC Ranch in San Angelo a couple years ago.

We got a 130 or less buck, a cull buck, and a doe in that package.

They don’t have their pricing listed anymore but give them a call. They have thousands of acres of land both high and low fence opportunities.

Try Wendy Lou Classic Game Reserve- its located near Dublin and is over 4K acres without a feeder on the property. I've hunted it a couple of times, and while not for whitetail, I've seen quite a few on my past hunts. Can't say enough good things about the ranch manager or they guide (his son-in-law).

Whitetail up to 130 B&C are 2K. They've got some good pictures of recent ones on their facebook page.

The hunt would be for my old man and my 9 yr old son. My dad and I have been in the same club for about 20 years. At his age he’s getting out this year. Like everyone he’s slowing down getting into his late 60’s still enjoys to hunt but suggested he’d just hunt as my guest. I don’t think I want to stay in without him we’re not really “good” friends with any other members. We’re thinking of just doing a hunt like I’m asking about every year.

Shirley Ranch in Johnson City, TX. The owner, Ryan LeBlanc, is grandson of Tom Benson (deceased Saints owner). Super nice guy, awesome staff, and great hunting. I think food, lodging, and an 8 pt runs about $3k

I would join texas hunting forum and post on the guides/outfitters forum exactly what you are looking for.

I know a cowboy or two that will lasso a deer and then You can shoot it. There is no “hunting” in Texas only shooting
