Well when the campground FB page shares a photo of every decent buck killed on it, and every boudreaux, theriot, thibadoux, and bergeron shares it on their page, everyone in South LA thinks Tensas is like the Missouri sanctuary. But they just cant help themselves when the 2.5 year old 6pt comes by

I absolutely agree. That damn Spacebook page has not helped at all.

Na, I’m from Beauregard and I don’t think we count as coonass. I hope not, because I hate vermillion parish coonasses

This influx of hunters that you guys are talking about, is this during archery or gun or both? I Used to hunt it some but it’s been a while. I was thinking about going back, but I’m not sure now.

Feels like all season now. Just 5 years ago on opening weekend, it was our little pop up and one other camper at the campground. The December gun weekend it was maybe half full.

Last few years it has been utterly ridiculous on the number of hunters. Like truck/camper Tetris around the campground. We still make our one or two trips up there every year but it has become harder and harder to get away from the crowd.

I believe last year was the first in 15 of my buddy hunting there where he didn’t get the gun draw.

That says something there

Maybe it’s time the Feds bust it up and lease it to private clubs. Poor mofos can’t properly manage what they have and are steadily buying more land.

No joke. They let the beavers and hogs run absolutely rampant in ways that most private owners would never allow.

I’m a coonass from South LA and I agree with the greed and shoot everything and anything spirit down here is out of control. I’ve always been a conservative type sportsman and shoot or catch what I need. I’ll never understand the need to take excess or crowd in another sportsman area.

Yeah, I have never seen a private landowner with hog or beaver problems

Maurepas and Manchac are state WMAs, Tensas is federal

The recent addition to Maurepas was a donation.

Only expansion of federal lands I know of are Peason Ridge which is owned by D.O.D. but is a WMA. It was expanded for military training and hunting is just a bonus

The Feds keep that shite under wraps until it becomes open to the public i guess. trust me, it’s happening within the boundaries of La. not a huge tract I’m talking specifically about but Big enough.
