quote:id put a picture here but i dont know how. He has normal height of an aussie, maybe a little taller but he got a big chest, big head and large canines. Black and white long hair. I have to shave him every 3 months to keep him cool. Whomever had him never neutured him and vet said he too old to go under to fix him.
That's bigger than the normal range for Aussies. That's on the biggish end of the German shepherd range.

My Australian Shepherd scares himself with his own farts. It's the funniest thing ever. He'll be laying around in the den, fart, then jump up like he just got stung and run into the other room. I'm convinced that Australian Shepherds are psychos.

quote:he tried to do this with my fence. Luckily my fence is old and im replacing it as we speak. Its not so much thunder but yes he does act up and paces like a dam zombie crackhead but its not even the thunder or rain. He starts this erratic behavior once the outside pressure drops/rises when weather is coming as far a day away. The panting drives us crazy. Its funny because when he starts this panting and anxiety, i check the radar and like clock work, a weather system is west heading east up to a day away.
would try to tear out of the kennel

Yep. Neighbor had two that were the biggest pussies ever. Thunder, firecrackers, sneezes, etc. sent them into a frightened, cowering, tizzy.

quote:he does this kinda crazy psycho stuff with his water bowl. He will just stand around and not move for a while then he spooks himself at his water bowl. We think he sees his reflection. He jumps back like a darn bee stung him like u say about yours lol. He does this when he seems like he is asleep. For no apparent reason he jumps up. Being a old dog, he shows symptoms of dementia. Not sure.

My heeler started acting the same at about age 12. I chalk it up to old age, and the decreasing vision and hearing probably doesn’t help.
Only difference is she turns into an even stronger piece of velcro instead of running.

What's wrong with him?
Nothing. Just weather anxiety. I have a 3 year old boxer. About a year ago a storm moved through at 3am. All the lights in the house were off and there was lightning everywhere. Lots of thunder. Since then every time it rains heavy he goes to anxiety level 11. Panting, licking, needing to be as close as possible to any human, etc. He gets terrified.
Your dog probably rode out a bad storm at some point and he got scarred from the experience. Like PTSD for dogs.
