Summer Bass Fishing

Kind of a newbie to bass fishing, looking for advice on what to throw. The majority of my fishing will be in backwater from the MS River, near Woodville MS and Greenville MS. Any serious advice is much appreciated.
ETA: please be as specific as possible

Top water later in the evenings or early in the morning
Then I usually switch to a red shad worm and fish that the rest of the time

What kind of topwater? I have a couple old topwater baits from my dad, but am looking to get some new ones, as they are pretty worn out

Fish will be most active at dusk and dawn when it's not balls hot. Buzzbaits are good right now, but I usually just stick with a texas-rigged watermelon worm and branch out from there. Your water conditions are gonna be a big factor.

Heddon baby torpedo is my favorite
Also a devils horse

Frog and buzzbait early and late.
Watermelon/Red senko and white spinnerbait when the sun is up.
Big swimbait for the bigguns.

This.
Also, depending on the body of water, warmer weather tends to move them deeper later in the day. Look for them on structure off of points.
ETA: if you can find some moving water, like a channel entering a larger body of water, they tend to hang around there.

this is pretty much exactly what i do when pond fishing. tx-rigged red shad has probably caught half of all the bass i've caught in my life.
i do fish white spinnerbaits/beetle spins a lot at runouts though in larger bodies of water.
and if you are fishing heavy heavy cover (this works best in the middle of the day when it's hot as balls), tx rig a green watermelon/red flake zoom critter craw with a 1/2oz bullet weight, and peg the bullet weight right at the hook. toss it in and just pull it up and down a few times in the cover on each cast. i'll sit on a spot and do that all day long if it's productive. i love it.
p.s.: to the OP, learn how to fish a worm if you haven't already.

Texas rigged red shad worm will get a bite every day

These four things have accounted for almost every bass I've ever caught after May is over.

And Texas rigged is what I alway fish. Only fished Carolina rig a few times
Need to try it more

Weightless fluke is money if you learn to walk it right and water is decently clear.

I've had some success with this.

Weightless fluke
I have more confidence in this bait than I have in any other bait I fish.

I learned how to fish a worm this spring at my buddy's farm in March-April this year. We skipped Friday class a couple times and wore em out on black/blue worms, just going low and slow with em. I had decent success with similar worms around that time, now just trying to figure this summer fishing out. Fished for an hour and a half the other day (7PM to dark) and got nothing with topwater, worm, or spinner bait

If you like the weightless fluke, by some 1/32 oz bullet weights and texas rig that and fish it the same way. Bait will be suspended 2-4" under water. Never caught more fish in my life

damn, in the same pond? i don't know what to tell you except some days you can do everything right and the fish just won't bite. try again a couple more times. I'm surprised you didn't get anything on topwater late.
ETA: but the worms should be money later in the day, anytime from 5pm on.

Nighttime bass fishing is a lot of fun. During the hot days of summer I've had as much or more luck fishing at night. Pretty much have to stay with a worm to stay out of the tree limbs if they are around.

I'll try this. Thanks

Top water early in the morning or late in the evening, I prefer Lucky 13 or a Zara spook.
Rest of the day I like to find any sort of dark shady spot and make a couple of casts into each side. Usually use a spinner bait or a really slowly presented top water lure.
