I was gonna recommend that site as well. They have all the information you could ever need and can answer any questions you have along the way.

Looks like adding hybrids is an option if one must have crappie. They occupy open water just like crappie and eat anything that swims.

We've had white perch (specs, crappie, sac-a-lait, whatever) in our pond for over 20 years and have never had problems with overcrowding. In fact we are probably going to put some more in there this fall as they have started to become hard to catch. However, we've always put black crappie in (are black crappie still white perch?) so maybe that's the reason. Also, our pond is over 20 feet deep so that may be a contributing factor.

We've always had hybrid bluegill, catfish, florida bass and white perch. The catfish and bream are fed every few days at least and we stock it with flathead minnows every year.

I'm not sure about tilapia, but seems that is illegal to stock invasive, non-native fish.

My grandfather sold a hill to build a few bridges.

It's a pretty good pond. That's why I keep cameras around it year round and usually catch at least one person fishing it a year.

He had a hill . . . now he has a pond.

They used the dirt from the hill to build bridges.

Do not use tilapia unless you get occasional freezes or commit to frequent cast netting to keep them in check. Here in FL they are a terrible nuisance and quickly take over a pond or lake.

It's honestly one of the most ridiculous things ive ever been a part of. I don't have the time right now to explain the whole story, and if I did it would be too long and people would bitch about reading it.
