Have a bunch of trees to cut up/split here soon. The kids will sell the firewood. I’m looking for a larger saw to handle this. I’ve always used Stihl products but the Echo 620p caught my eye. Anyone with experience with this saw? Also looking at getting a Yardmax 30 ton splitter. Feedback appreciated.

I have the echo CS-590. Saw is a beast. I put a little more aggressive chain on it. Don't think you could go wrong with either though.

For a 60cc saw with a 20" bar nothing is close to the echo in that price range. Stihl or Husky has nothing close for the same money.

Buy from a dealer if possible and not BBS.

Echo saws are fine. Buy whatever your local hardware store sells and can service. Any brand is fine for a homeowner or farmer saw

Nah just start busting wood theyll figure it out. Are they gonna split it by hand or with a splitter?

I wish I had time to do it. These days with facebook and all that theyll sell as much as they can split. 2 cords or 20 cords it doesnt matter.

Gonna buy a splitter and help them with it. I’m glad they are wanting to work for their money .

Get a cant bar, at least 2 plastic wedges and one good steel wedge and a 8lb splitting maul. I have a fiskars that is amazing. Sometimes it's well worth it to bust the big blocks with a wedge when theyll split easy. Good straight oak will usually go without too much effort and then you're handling blocks instead of whole 36" logs.

I probably had $1000 tied up in my little operation counting the $750 saw but I didnt have a splitter. I made enough money to buy my books and some truck parts and stuff.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll post some pics of the “operation “ once we get to cutting. Going get the saw Wednesday and will see if he will deal on the splitter.

Go with whatever is the cheapest between Echo, Stihl, or Husky. For your application they will all work fine. I have been running Echo recently and am very impressed. Always ran Husky before.

I talked to the mechanic at my store that sells but echo and sthils and says he sees more sthils but that's because more are out there because they are the best. But said go with a echo weedeater.

Im currently running an 18yr old echo 30 trimmer. Cranks every time. I have a stihl chainsaw that takes an act of congress to crank, but it does crank everytime. IMO you cant go wrong with either.

Before long people will be telling you to get an MS361 or some other pro grade stihl that costs $1000+ For a firewood operation any mid grade saw is fine. I started with an ms170 and ended up with an MS391 by the time I was done and I was very rarely wanting for a more expensive saw. What I wanted for was a damn splitter.

I think I’m set on the Echo 620. I have a MS170 that’s probably 10 years old. It’s a cold natured saw for sure. Gonna pick the new saw up this week and get some trees up to the house. I have several oaks that blew over during the last tornado . I don’t have it in me anymore to split wood with a maul. A splitter will be next. The boys are ready to work.
