Had never seen that photo before. That's crazy! Looks like he stuffed a 10 lbs ball in its stomach. Or it had some kind of tumor growth.

I'm not sure the Arkansas one is correct... I remember that fish being caught and there was controversy over whether the guy had a valid license....
IDK.

Bass are opposite of deer. Colder climate means smaller bass on average. I would have thought Florida would be 20 ish.

Florida strain is also more prevalent down south. A pure northern strain bass over 8lbs is a giant.

There was a 17 something caught out of Caney but it was just about dead and caught in a dip net. It was mounted and hangs in the DWLF Monroe office now. By being caught in a dip net it doesn't qualify for any record.

I remember hearing a story about the fish's eggs crystallizing inside.. That why it looks like a huge tumor...

I know a wildlife and fisheries biologist who Electro shocked an 18 lb bass in Grand Bayou a couple years ago.

Growing up my neighbor had a 18# plus mounted from Hurricane Lake in FL. He said his was third behind a 20 pounder. Fish was humongous and looked funny mounted.

Eh. Some 15 years apart.

He's probably a tournament angler from back in the day.
