I see some nice bucks come out that swamp every year but it’s not for the faint of heart. It’s bottomless in some spots and you’ll sink to your arm pits. A lot of walking on top of floaton. I hunted it heavily in my younger days but can’t ever see going back in there now. We killed mallards down the river in the 90s but my last years of hunting it was mostly just wood ducks.

They’ve been talking about building them for over 20 years for the swamp. I’ll believe it when I actually see it.

Some BIG news should be coming out in the next week - possibly as early as Monday.

Is there a reason why Blind River is a poor fishery? It looks very fishy.

water quality, invasives, disruption of historical flows and tide channel, low DO2 levels, low PH

In 1973 it was the first place I fished in a boat and it was magical with a "presidential" pole I caught about 50 giant bream and a handful of bass. Every trip after that over the years paled by a long shot(did not go back there again until mid 80s.

The Garyville diversion was supposed to be approved a while back. I’d like to see the Union/Burnside diversion get approved and get under construction.

There's only a few canals that hold fish. Petite anite canal and the canal by the blue camp past the interstate. Name escapes me. But that's where 90% of the people fish

That whole are is some tide more wind influenced.
There are times when the water comes out of the swamp into the back of the canals off the Reserve canal that I can catch smaller bass every cast.

I think the water quality is what hurts that area.

I caught a few nice bass in the Bourgeois Canal if that is correct.

If they open up the diversions to go into Lake Maurepas the whole Maurepas basin will be fertile with fish.
