This thread has already drifted so I am going to drift it some more...

The 140-year old Colt Single Action Army revolver can fire with every action part broken. In fact, you could remove everything off the gun except the hammer, cylinder, and barrel and still shoot something if you needed to. The cylinder can be rotated by hand, the hammer hit from behind with a sharp blow, and the bullet will travel down the barrel to its target.

Just a fun fact for a Wednesday on the OB.

I'm sure bitchslapping the hammer may get a round out but I wouldn't put money on which zip code it ends up in.

BTW: How many Springfields does Jim's have in the case for sale? How many Colts? There is your answer.

I was in there today picking up a gun. They had about 20 if each SA and Colt 1911's. so what story does that tell?

Rick from Jim's knows his shite about 1911's

Brazil ain't Japan.

Japan, Russia, China, nor the US can touch Brazil for quality steel on a $/ton basis. Brazil's steel is world-class (best iron ore in the world to start with) and chances are both SA and Colt use steel sourced from Brazil (as is most of the steel in American made automobiles) one way or another.

That was exactly my point. The poster you are responding to apparently thinks that quality steel comes only from the US. I was pointing out that Japan makes a very high grade of steel. However, I didn't realize that Brazil actually has some of the best steel in the world.

I never said that because I don't believe it.

The last I heard from the Customer Rep at Colt's was that the forgings for all their guns are done at a nearby shop in West Hartford. Other information has led me to conclude that the steel is USA sourced.

I prefer Colt over all other brands. I do appreciate Brazilian women though.

Again, shoot what you like. The more people shooting anything the better for all enthusiasts.
