Corn and minerals where I am.

I have had success with Rice Bran in the past, but my current location....they just don't touch it! Weird. I think it is hit and miss...and depends on weather/rain.

I put out Deer Cain a month ago and they licked/ate it down in 3 days. I put a second one down and they haven't touched it.

The corn? They always eat it. every time.
I'm on a big buck, so I have been afraid to put a feeder in. I have been carrying it in and they have eaten over 1000 pounds of it. Got some great pics and videos.

Its just in my eyes that hunting on top corn is nothing but someone being too lazy to go walk around in the woods and scout all your doing is sitting there waiting for that corn feeder to throw corn out at a certain time everyday because the deer have learned when that feeder goes off and thats no fun to me but to each is own

I hunt over salt licks all the time (I make my own) but salt licks are not much different than corn. It's still an attractant. I get almost as many pictures by a good salt lick as by corn with a camera.

That small 8 looks like he will eventually be a good deer. Probably his first rack looking at his body.

He kinda looks like a little 6 that was coming in the field last year.

And with the people on either side of me and the trespassers he'll never make it this year.

We literally purchase Rice Bran by the ton. Usually 5-10 tons will get us through late summer and into early spring.

Coons won't touch it, and it's through the roof with protein.. It's like crack for whitetails. Bucks don't shy from it like they will corn.

I think thats the beauty of hunting, hunt the way you like as long as its legal. Whatever makes you happy and enjoying the outdoors. If thats hunting over corn, hunting over a food plot, hunting over a scrape line...whatever works for you.

Get out there and have fun with it.

I just think hunting over bait is wrong. What do you learn from it and what are you actually teaching your kids. Teach a kid how to hunt. After all he or she may need it one day in this country.
