Buy once cry once. I would buy a good used Kubota before a new Solis. I have a 2013 L4600 Kubota I bought back in 2018 with a front loader for 15K. Only had 253 hrs on it. My grandkids will be using it long after I’m gone.

I don’t really understand why you came here asking for input. You’re a walking Solis commercial. Best of luck.

I was curious if anyone had any actual experience with the brand, and while I appreciate the advice to buy a used name brand based on nothing other than used name brands having a proven track record that is not what I originally asked about. Obviously buying a used name brand with a proven track record is an option. I was merely curious if anyone had any actual experience with Solis.

I bought a new Kubota backhoe loader, 30HP, in 1998 and it is probably still being used somewhere...I sold it in 2006 for about what I paid for it and it had been used a bunch and never gave me a minutes problem other than one of my employees running it out of fuel once and having to clean the injectors to get it crunk. I don't have a use for a backhoe now....if I need one occasionally I can rent one for a day and do a lot of work with it and let someone else worry about maintenance. A similar 2024 Kubota loader is about twice the price of the Solis and in my area used Kubotas have excellent resell value....to the point that they are as much or more than a new one. I only plan to keep a tractor 3 years or less and during that time it will be used very little. I am leaning toward a used tractor but saw some Solis ads and was curious about the brand having never seen it before....

Unless the price was just too good on the Solis, I'd probably go for a used name brand just because you can resale it for probably what you'd pay for it. I have no opinion on a Solis than other to say if I was in the used market and saw one, I'd probably breeze right past it because I have never heard of them. GL with whatever you decide upon.

Anyone want to chime in on LS Tractors? Looking at maybe the 73 hp model.

Thats a great point....had I came across a used one and did not take the time to do some research I would assume they were about like the $5000 Chinese excavators that are all over marketplace and craigs list. I have never done any research on those either, just made the assumption that they were like the ATVs and such that auto parts stores sell that last about a week and go tits up. I would probably do exactly the same thing with a used Solis tractor. Your point is well founded....cutting the pool of potential buyers for a used piece of equipment is not a good way to recoup your capital!

I think the excavators are legit. Never looked at one, but they can come with name brand engines. I saw in a video, so take it for what it's worth, they are built using mostly parts that you can purchase at a hardware store. Not as many proprietary parts that you would have on a big commercial brand.
I'm sure they are lacking in a lot of areas, but it seems that you can keep them running even without a dealer network.

I suspect if someone needed one for a couple of years and did not intend to run it 10 hours a day 6 days a week they'd be satisfied. One DIY monlithic slab would just about justify buying one....our neighbor just paid $12K for about 560 square feet of 4 inch concrete with no footing to speak of!
