I have streamlight single and double AAA batteries and both are great.
The single one would clip right on the inside of my front Jean pocket.

I have these (I think mine are under a different name but the same thing is sold on amazing with a billion different names screen printed on) and for a cheap single AA powered they are very bright and work great.
Amazon Link
ETA looked it up these were the ones I bought.
Ones I bought link.
ETA I totally missed the red filter part so just ignore my recommendation

I use to use surefires, but I switched to Anker. I have to carry one pretty much all the time at work, it works great and having USB recharging is awesome. When Amazon does their Anker sales deals, you can get them crazy cheap too.
This is the one I use, but you can get different sizes.

I have kinda wanted to try one of these lil Larry ones though, they carry them at the BMW Moto dealership in town and they seem to produce decent light, but the magnet base and the side wide beam and regular front beam could make it quite handy doing work by yourself.

Seconded on Ankers. Hold a charge forever and will light up your world in a compact package. I’ve got a Bolder LC40 that has been my go to flashlight for everything from walking the dog at night to serving as a pocket light during a recent Costa Rica trip. Amazing little flashlight for $20.

thank you weadjust
Because of this thread, I did a Harbor Freight run today. I got 2 each of the Harbor Freight 588 and 65, just for laughs. My whole bill (and I got gloves, safety glasses, cable ties, an ammo box, etc.), was $50.
I have to say, the 588 is a lot of light for $10.

I've transitioned to flashlights with 18650 batteries
Also keep in mind that any flashlight running a 18650 can run two CR123s in series. I’ve done it in a few lights that are designed for the 18650s that I don’t have a charger for.
