Anyone had any experience with this stuff? Its really expensive but all the reviews are great. Just wondering if anyone has used it?

It seems to be the Yeti of hunting clothes. If I am going to spend that on clothes to hunt in, I am going with something tried and true, like Filson.

The fact that it is GORE-Tex is why it's so expensive. Comes with a lifetime warranty and is very well made

Buy KUIU. It's a better product with better materials for a better price and was founded by the same person. KUIU distributes directly and cuts out the middle man box store. You purchase directly from them. Not knocking Sitka because they make great products too. All of the advanced hunting brands like KUIU, Sitka, First Lite, and Nomad make quality stuff. Is it necessary for the majority of the applications that most will use it for, not really. Is it worth the money and value that they cost, absolutely. KUIU, Sitka, First Lite, etc were made to excel in situations where you must hike in for a long period of time and to perform in bad conditions in mountainous terrain where you will only have the clothes on your back and nothing else. To sit in a climber for 6 hrs it's pretty overkill and you wouldnt be getting the value out of it.

found one of the Traverse long sleeve T's on sale for $50 so I bought it.

Not bad but nothing special. No way I would pay full price for it.

I have a jacket, pants, and 1/4 zip that I got for around 50% off. All are incredibly well made, super warm/functional, and the warrant is great. I'd never pay full price though since you can get similar made items for almost half the cost.

I want a jacket. I like the idea of thinner materials being just as warm.

Drake stuff isn't worth a damn.

What type of jacket? Very warm/very light ratio? Does it have to be waterproof or can it be water resitant?

I tried one on the other day with an outer gore Tex material that was felt amazing. I'd prefer water proof. I don't like having to wear something on top of my drake jackets because they're water repellent, at best.

I gotcha. Since youre talking about Drake, Im assuming youre looking for waterfowl stuff and not mountain/woods stuff?

The reason I ask - recently on a hunt in Colorado, I had a KUIU Kenai Hooded Insulated Jacket that weighs 15.8 oz. It is SOOO warm for how light it is and the amazing thing about it is that it breathes. I found myself hiking one evening and it was sub 40 with a light rain and all I had on was a KUIU merino base layer and this Kenai jacket and it flat out performed. It would not be ideal for a heavy rain and it would prlly not work for waterfowl due to the limited camo patterns, but for woods/mountains it is a great product.

Never heard of Kuiu brand. Interesting, Kuiu island is approx 50 miles south of Sitka.

That makes alot of sense. It seems like alot of their gear is named after a specific place that Hairston (owner) has hunted.
-Chinook Jacket
-Chugach Rain Gear
-Yukon Rain Gear

First Lite is the same way.
-Uncompahgre Puffy Jacket
-Chama Hoody
-Chugach Shirt
-Halstead Fleece
-Llano Top
-Kanab Pants
-Allgeheny Bottoms
-Red Desert Boxers

i like the idea of the thin clothing but not a fan of the camo pattern. my cousin bought a set of pants and jacket from them and he sticks out like a sore thumb in his lock on stand.

I had the light weight pants and shirt. They don't hold up to thickets very well. The first time I tracked a deer through a thicket the fabric had pulled and frayed like hell.

If you hunt in bottomland they would be great. If you hunt pines I'd stay away.

Was gonna post this as well, I've been following kryptek' s gear online and get their emails but it's so expensive too. I love that mandrake pattern. Is their gear just as reliable as Sitka?
