Maybe it’s brain fog, maybe ive had too many beers prepping.
I swear I ran my firman portable generator in the rain during Ida and didn’t have any issues, but now I’m second guessing myself whether or not I should?

If it has an air filter that needs to stay dry-ish. The felt ones can absorb enough water to choke out. Otherwise it’ll be fine so long as water isn’t getting into the fuel. It’s best to have it under a patio or something but not absolutely necessary.

That’s what it was…during Ida I had it dry under the back patio while it was raining. Now that I have a home plug in and a 30’ cord I don’t have that option to keep it dry under the carport. Damn.

I have one,,, they have way to may electrical components on them to leave them exposed. I would try to at least cover/sheild it somehow

Use a wheel barrow for cover. Prop it up so there’s air flow. At least you can put it where you need it. Dog crates work pretty good too.

I just threw a piece of plywood over mine after Laura.

I used saw horses and a sheet of plywood.

I put mine in the yard away from the house. I lean my wheelbarrow over it to keep the rain off. Works fine.

I use a tailgate tent over mine when it's in use in questionable weather. Just leave the legs at the shortest setting to stay close to the ground to prevent wind from blowing rain in and just help it from generally flying away
