Anyone have one and use it for turkey hunting?
I’ve been toying with the idea of dropping down from a 12 and this gun is speaking to me.
Will most certainly use tss so I know it’ll have the punch to kill(definitely include chokes used though), mainly looking to hear how it handles in the woods with a 26” barrel.

I don’t have one, but I like the idea of 28 for turkey hunting, and thought about buying one. Also, the more I thought about it, a 20 is more practical in the long run. The 20 and 28 are basically the same size and weight, so the only benefit I see would be reduced recoil for young shooters. But don’t listen to me… I went from looking at 20 and 28s to buying a Mossberg 940 pro turkey

I’m not crazy about the SBE in 28 gauge for turkey since it has a 26” barrel. I prefer a shorter gun (the 940 pro is 8” shorter than a SBE with 26” barrel). Also, I think that you’ll see more offerings in 28 gauges specifically designed for turkey hunting in the next year or two if you’re patient. I’ll probably buy one eventually if I find something I really like.

28 is the sweetest gauge on the planet. I can assure you that you will enjoy having and using one. Ammunition supply can sometimes be sketchy, but you just have to either plan ahead or better yet, reload your own and you will have twice the pleasure.

Wife bought me an Ethos for Christmas. I can't hit crap with it on the range, but I love the way it feels. My son might need the SBE3, you know...to get started.

The barrel length is really the only hesitation I have about this one.
I know I could get it cut if I REALLY wanted to but it sure would be nice to have a 22” offering from factory.

As far as recoil goes, I’ve just about had it with these 3.5 tss handloads lol.
I swear I knocked 2 teeth loose yesterday checking my gun.
That 28 is sounding really nice right about now

I hear ya! I’ve got a Mossberg 835 and it doesn’t bother me hunting but I hate patterning it. Definitely don’t need 3.5” with TSS though, 3” works great and I’m sure 2-3/4 does as well if you can find them.

Mossberg came out with SA- 28 gauge and 20 gauges for turkey with 22” barrels. Almost bought one but ended up getting the 940 12 gauge for now instead. If they end up making something similar in 20 or 28, I’m sure I’ll buy one too.

Is it lighter in weight than a 20? Not all of them are.

I got my son a Mossberg Sa-28 Youth for Xmas. It's a sweet little gun. I've thought about putting a full size stock so I can use it easier. I think I shot it just as much as him this duck season.

I have the 20 and 28. I just had to go confirm that they weigh the same (they do). I swear the 20 feels closer to my 12 but stats don't lie , maybe its the size. I've been looking for a 2nd barrel to have cut but haven't seen that option yet. The 28 is a fine gun, i toted it all last weekend in the osceola woods but can't tell you yet whether is kills turkeys. I shot ducks with it all last year. Boss bismuth matched the performance of a 12 i'd say.

I have the m2 20 and the sbe3 28

The 28 is a good bit lighter than the 20 for these models.

I turkey hunt with the m2, haven’t barely shot the 28 yet but at at some pheasant in SD. It’s a joy to shoot that’s for sure.

Def plan on rigging it out for turkeys in the future for my wife and two sons. For now the m2 is just too perfect for me

I’ve wanted an m2 20 for a few years now.
I may contact trulock or sumtoy to see if they are able to cut this 28 down some and rethread .
If so I may go on ahead with it

Get the m2 now or soon (albeit used wont be hard to find im sure). Benelli redesigned them more like an ethos and it's going to replace the montefletro as the lower level gun and the monte got upgraded.
