Savage 17HMR feed question

I don't know how that's possible if you have the correct magazines. I need to take a look at mine to make sure what I'm saying it what I'm thinking in my mind.

What I'm thinking is that you may possibly have a 17 WSM magazine? I don't know if they will both fit in the same gun though??

I didn't do a video search, but I hope that fixes your problem. Savage factory mags are known to largely be a piece of trash. I say that despite owning 3 Savage rimfire bolt guns in 22LR, 17 M2 and 17 HMR. The magazine is the weakest part of Savage bolt actions, excluding the newer model that uses a rotary mag. For 22LR, the best fix is to buy a mag from Csspecs.com. I've got one 15 rounder and it's a lot better than the factory mag. Unfortunately, it looks like they don't make one for the 17 HMR. When I bought my MK II FV-SR, the factory mag did like yours. I squeezed the feed lips a little closer and that fixed it.....for a few years. Eventually it fell apart at the seams.....literally. You might contact Customer Service at Savage. I did and they sent me a new 10 round mag like I requested, instead of the stock 5 round mag. OTOH, they may not help you. I had extractor issues when my MKII was a youngster (a well know problem w/ the Savage bolt rimfires) and CS sent me free of charge an "extractor set" w/ replacement parts. Fast forward 10 years later the extraction problem recurred. I had to request spare parts twice, but CS twice recommended sending the gun back. The second response from CS to send it back was in ALL CAPS. I said, THANK YOU. PLEASE SEND THE PARTS in all caps. Hopefully the parts come in. Nevertheless, the Savage MK II punches well above its weight class when it comes to accuracy. I really like mine. My MKII is my go to gun for hunting coons at night.

Does it fail to eject (fail to throw the brass from the chamber) or extract?(fail to pull case from the chamber)? As per my post above, extraction issues are very common w/ Savage rimfire bolts, but ejection problems also happen. Both are not bad DIY repair jobs if you can follow a Youtube video. Having, said that, it's always a good idea to give it a good cleaning. If that doesn't fix it, check out google and YT.
