Just curious what everyone uses and why. And also Medium, ML, or MH?

Fenix 6'6" medium light hmg with shimano Stradivarius my favorite balancing rod. Medium light keeps trout catching fun but I have never had a problem caring 30" reds

You can buy any of the higher dollar fe wick rods if you like. Great warranty too. If you like a longer casting rod the 6'9 will work too. If yo go longer you might go medium.

Also fast tip

All my rods are med, 6' 6".
I've lost some though. Would have needed a bottom rig.

Topwater gets a 7’+ MH rod with braid.

The reason why i find braid best is because topwaters are usually thrown a long distance and the no stretch of braid helps set the hook at distance

If you are going to fish a lot of topwater, I would keep a reel set up for mono. You will catch more fish.

IMO you have a better topwater hookup with mono over braid. The reason is more stretch when trout hits the bait. I tested that theory recently and had better hookups with mono. The drawback is shorter casting distance

I have a Garcia Revo and am thinking of putting it on a Falcon Bucoo 6'6 Medium Fast.

My rod for topwaters is a 7' MH Carrot Stix, I've only ever used braid with it though so no comment on the braid vs mono hookup ratio other than I've never really noticed an abundance of lost fish due to no stretch, even in a kayak.

See I thought 7' MH would be difficult to work in a Kayak

There is no doubt.
Also, when you set the hook and miss with braid, b/c of the lack of stretch you pull it out of the strike zone more times than with mono. A ton of the fish I catch on top are on second and third strikes.

I really like the Castaway Invicta rods with the Winn grips which help a great deal when you have grabbed a fish and have slime on your hands.

Ive used the light to medium heavy with great success. These rods are extremely light as well. They now sponsor our show, I've been using Castaway's since the late '80s.

St Croix Bass-X or MOJO Bass 6'8", Medium, X-Fast. I LOVE the 6'8" length in a yak. Don't know why, but it's a sweet spot for me.

The Bass-X is $100 and the MOJO Bass is $130. Both great rods.

ETA:
6'8", med/x-fast is a phenomenal all around rod. Bass, trout, reds. Can fish spinnerbaits, TW, jerkbaits, plastics, small swimbaits - really a lot of applications.

ETA2: on the braid vs mono debate, I throw braid mainline with a healthy 10' mono leader and a lighter drag. Get a little of the stretch and forgiveness with the mono and light drag (which i can always tighten if i hook a big fish) and the casting distance of the braid. I find its a happy medium.

Do you use bass rods in saltwater? What makes an inshore rod?

i use them all the time. just rinse thoroughly after each use

I guess upgraded eyelets. and perhaps, perhaps, the epoxy/glue could be slightly different to avoid any corrosion issues but that sounds like a stretch now that i typed it.

I second coco up there on the braid, mono/flouro leader and back off the drag for hook set.
