In the market for my first AR15. I am currently looking at the Ruger MPR but am open to suggestions in the price range of $500-$1000. I also like the Springfield Armory Saint. For the price of each of them and the quality of parts and reliability all considered. Which is the better deal?
16" Saint = $870
18" Ruger MPR = $700

Palmetto State complete upper, complete lower, and polished trigger group came in at less than $500 for me. Added an $80 troy rear sight. It's MOA at 100 yards and I couldn't be happier for the price. The upper and lower I got both came with Magpul furniture also.

I purchased the first generation Springfield Saint for around $550 from PSA this Summer. It is great, for roughly the same money you could piece one together with the comparable components.

If you’re willing to pay $870 for a Saint and up to $1,000 I’d recommend looking at these:
LMT SPM16 Magpul - $899
Noreen BBN223 - $799
The last thing I need right now is an AR, but I’m strongly considering picking up the LMT.

A free floating handguard is a must for man. Gas system runs better and aesthetics as well.

I hear you. I’m in a retro phase with my ARs (carry handle, stock, handguard). In fact I just picked up one of these for my A2 clone:

I'll throw in Rock River for a complete, very quality rifle at those prices.
The two staged trigger they use is crisp.

all AR type rifles in this price range will be very similar.
Get the cheaper one, buy some decent mags and spend the rest on ammo and go shoot it. get good with the irons then get you an aimpoint or decent red dot if you wish and then go shoot some more..

This is most likely what I'll do.

That is a really good deal on that LMT. If I were the OP I would pull the trigger on it.

I just built one in a 350 legend cal. Stripped lower and lower build kit with sba3 brace from PSA. Complete 16” upper from bear creek arsenal. Cmmg mag. Came in just under $500 before optic, mount and ammo.

I did the same in 7.62x39 with a lower from Primary Arms and the upper from Bear Creek Arsenal. With mags and flip up sights it ran under $400.
