What ammo?

This is what I bought just to target shoot and get to know the gun for now. If I decide to hunt with it I'd consider the Hornady brand.

I use the 240 gr jsp Winchester white box in mine. They don't make it far.

Full disclosure. He said he'd take $1200. The link suggest I need to be down around $1000.

I wouldn't lose it over 200 dollars. I didn't know I needed one till I opened this thread. Quick web search only turned up a few.

I know that gun very well. The Howard Johnson sniper, Mark Essex, used that exact gun. Capt. Hook, a local fishing guide, was a fireman who lost his arm in this incident.

Shot a doe at about 30 yards with these. You're right that she didn't go far, however the bullet didn't pass through and there was ZERO blood trail.

I switched over to the Hornady Leverevolution, but have not shot one with that round. Yet.

Decent blood trail on a doe I shot with the Leverevolution last year, but nothing spectacular. Tore up her insides real good.

I have only shot a spike with Leverevolution at 50 yards. Blood everywhere in the 15 or so yards the deer ran.

I’ve shot a lot of hogs with 240 grain XTPs but I don’t recall bullet performance. I don’t remember tracking any of them though. I usually only carry the 44 mag when I’m stalking hogs.
