Ruger AR 556 rifle...It's definitely a keeper !

I've had mine for about a year or so and really like it. I put a Vortex Strike Fire red dot on it, and it is very accurate. Have put well over 1000 rounds through it with zero malfunctions.
Anyone else have one, and how do you like it ?

Same here with my M&P 15. Both are great guns for the money. My dad has the Ruger and it’s a sweet shooter

I've read a lot about the Smith & Wesson M&P 15. Looks like a great rifle as well !!

Yes it is. Now is a great time to get one...it's definitely a buyers market out there. If your looking for a great no frills rifle, you can't go wrong with the Ruger AR 556 or the Smith & Wesson M&P 15. Both great rifles, made in USA.

I don't really know how many rounds I've shot through my old Colt AR-15 ( it's got a Dpms lower on it for right now, because of a Bronco screw up, and this board just talked me into putting a new 3.5 LBS trigger on it the other day),but I bet it has to be at least 20,000 rounds, and it's still shoots great. Have had very few malfunctions, and usually it was caused from a weak mag spring. My fault for leaving them loaded up too tight.
! thing I like about the ruger ARs, they do a little extra machine work on them, and that looks more quality.
That's 1 thing I have always loved about Ruger stuff, nice finish work for the money. I just haven't had much luck on accuracy on the few rifles that I have owned from them.

I've got about 20 magpul magazines for my two AR's. I only load 28 rounds in the 30 round mags and haven't had an issue.
Just curious, did you load the magazines to the full 30 round capacity ?

Bout to turn mine into a 6.5 grendel for a permanent deer gun. It’s exciting hunting with an AR they’re just really cool guns. My old 30-06 will always have a purpose but shooting and hunting with these things suppressed is awesome

any kind of shooting suppressed is so much better.
I have a 6.8spc and just built a 6.5 grendel. Also have a 6.5cm in an ar-10.

I have done it before, even though I knew that I shouldn't especially when I thought I would be shooting them out quick, then didn't shoot them.
That was mostly years back, and using the old metal mags. I didn't care, I had plenty of them. Now though, those mags will not feed the last 2 rounds, and the bolt will leave a flat spot on the casing, as it tries to feed it.

I bet that 6.5 CM is sweet on that ar-10 huh? Probably almost no recoil? just a twist?

I still have a couple of the old aluminum magazines, but don't even load them up anymore. I only use Magpul magazines now. Never had an issue with them, and you can get them very reasonabley when they put them on sale.

Yeah..these days, there are 2 things I can't resist the urge to buy : .22mag ammo and magpul AR mags. It's a sickness.

A buddy of mine has one, and has no complaints.

I buy USGI and Magpul mags every damn time there's a sale. I can't help it
Posted on 11/8/18 at 8:56 pm to jimbeam
Ive got 6 bricks of A22 mag ammo here in my truck, and don't even have a 22 mag with me.

I have one as well and it’s been really reliable. But I’m gonna say my favorite gun is my Ruger 10/22. That is before I lost them in a boating accident

Is it an old one? I have never shot an older one.
Bought a new 1 a little while back, and was disappointed. Traded it off.

No. It is a 4 year old takedown.
