tikka compacts are sweet and they have some crazy sales going on along with the $75 factory rebate.

May want to check on the rebate, I think it may have ended by now. I was in the same boat as OP and ended up going with the Tikka T3x Lite 308 Win SYN 22.4" barrel for $615 out the door after rebate. Thought it was a pretty good deal and I had been holding out for a while.

The 16.5” barrel was too short. It was loud.

not with a silencer.

I'm absolutely convinced that every kid that hunts with a rifle should have a deer rifle with a silencer.

I bought one for my kids. My Oldest moved up and youngest doesn’t hunt. It’s been a good rifle, and I even shot a few axis with it.

I’m about to get rid of it. Ran out of room in my house and am forcing myself to offload a handful,

Definitely. I developed a flinch as a teen and the only thing that got rid of it was using ear protection every time I shot. The proliferation of muzzle brakes is going to lead to some serious issues for people who don’t know any better.

We need proliferation of silencers. Its such a load of bullshite that they are regulated like they are. They should be on end caps at cabelas in blister packs for $100.

Ended up picking up the kiddo a savage axis ii in 300 blackout with the short barrel.

Grabbed it and a vortex for the price of the ruger.

Sighted in for 150 yards. It's more accurate than I am. Now just to wait the five or six years for little man to be able to shoot it.

Back to top Posted on 12/2/24 at 12:15 pm to Chilton4Bama Ruger American is a great gun for kids. Bought an American Ranch in 300blk to get the short, threaded barrel. Called Ruger with the serial number and they mailed a youth stock to me for free. Very accurate gun for the money.

When did you do this? I tried today and they wanted to charge $175 for the stock. I asked about them sending one for free, and they had no idea what I was talking about. I called the parts line, any info would be great.

Also- the gun shoots great, but it feeds very poorly.

They sent me a free compact stock for my Ruger Ranch 300blk as well. He initially charged me $75 but then I said my kids would be excited to shoot it and he said "you should have told me it was for your kids, we send those for free" and refunded my money. This was last summer.
