I primarily hunt rice fields out of a pit blind. Need a new duck call. Blown and like the Riceland open water. I like a loud, sharp call there.

Any input or suggestions?

FYI, usually blow a DR-85 in the marsh.

Ducks sound the same in rice fields as they do in the marsh.

Most important thing is to get a place that they like.

Get what you like. There is a reason there are SOOOO MANY options when it comes to duck calls--everyone likes something different.

I'm a big fan of Haydel, and most of my calls are Haydel. My favorite is a carbon kwacker. But, I also have a DU Buck Gardner call that I love. Can get loud, very raspy, and easy to blow.

Is it better than the kwacker? No. Neither is better than the other. I just like both.

If you like the way the Riceland call sounds, get it. I've never blown them, and don't care to. Expensive calls just aren't my fancy. Just my preference.

Agree, ducks sound the same in marsh or rice field, but volume matters more in rice field than in marsh. Not really breaking high ducks in marsh.

Don't overthink it. Get a call you like. Like I said, getting a place ducks like is most impt. I've killed hundreds without picking up my caller.

If I can float my boat in it, it damn sure will be. That's my water they are using.

Lmao! I'd love to see how that one works out.

If people are having their boats trashed on Lacassine for hunting in someone else's spot, a guy might get shot for trying to hunt a rice field he isn't supposed to be on.

Gotta hunt other people's places on Tuesdays. Nobody hunts on Tuesdays.

Volume is a big difference in rice fields versus marsh. I wasn't a believer of this until a few years ago when I watched an old coonass hail at the top of his fricking lungs and got a group of mallards to come in with no decoys
