I haven't put it over a chronograph yet, but I'm shooting the Barnes 200gr VOR-TX, which is listed at around 2,800 fps from a 24" barrel. Since I cut it to 16", I'm figuring it's somewhere around 2,600 fps based on the typical velocity loss for a .35 Whelen. For the way I hunt swamps and out of a saddle with shots rarely past 100 yards, it's still hitting plenty hard, and the shorter barrel is a whole lot easier to maneuver in the woods.

I have an Omega 36M on my CVA Scout 35 Whelen, cut the barrel down to 19 inches and I love it. The 36M is one of my favorite cans. I don't use the ASR mounts though, I run Plan B or Rearden on everything, it shortens it up and I think it sounds better.
Shoots 200gr Hornady Superformance sub moa at 2820 fps. It's a hammer in the deer woods!

I follow this guy (ELEE Suppressors) on FB…he had a slick Remington 760 aught 6 with a suppressor the other day. Makes me want to do it with my 742.

This is what I would want to do to mine. Cut the barrel down and throw a suppressor on it. I love the gun but I made the mistake of shooting it once without ear protection. Not cool.

Anyone have any experience with Griffin suppressorrs? I see they have an ultralight 36 thats looks pretty affordable. Just dont know much about them. Between that and the omega 36

I just got the Omega 36. This smaller piece came with it that screws on the barrel. Looks like when a rifle is ported. Then the silencer goes over it. I just screwed it all on by hand. Is it now ready to shoot? I didn’t use any tools to tighten it all down.

I don’t remember if mine did, but I ended up buying a Charlie direct thread mount to mount mine.

I believe there are some instructions online, but I installed my ASR devices with rocksett. I think it should be torqued to 20-30 ft-lbs, and if it’s a brake, it should have shims so you can time it properly.
Installing the suppressor after that is done by hand and then the lock ring can be secured.

By timing it properly, do you mean so that it ports out of the sides?

And I would need an ASR device for both my 35 Whelen and my 300 WBY?

Yes, if you want to swap them quickly. Alternatively, if you buy a Charlie direct thread mount, you could use that and wouldn’t have to worry about the ASR mount.
I basically put ASR devices on my ARs since they look funny without a flash hider or brake, and I direct thread on my rifles.
The Charlie direct thread mount replaces the Charlie ASR mount on the omega. It can be taken off and installed using the supplied spanner wrench.
