Have you personally went? How's the free range hunting?

Anyone with any first hand experience at Giles Island, Tarra/Willow point, and blackhawk plantation. I see those names popping up on a search from old forums.

130 inch is probably the minimum at Giles haha. If you shoot below that sometimes they won't let you back

Hey I'm fine with over 130" Do you have to judge it yourself or are there guides with you?

I just got back from a guided prairie dog hunt w/ 10 Gauge Outfitters LINK near Dodge City, KS. Our guide also guides pheasant and deer hunts. He had a wall full of nice deer he'd personally killed. He claims 100% success rate past 6 years w/ all hunters (6-8/year) killing 160" or better bucks. Here are some pics I posted on a different forum.LINK
Our hunt was all inclusive w/ very nice accomadations. I believe he said he was already booked for 2014, but that's a problem you're going to have w/ most all of the popular/established outfitters. At $4500 for a hunt, he may be out of your range, but a 160" whitetail deer is gonna cost some money. If a 130" deer is your goal, you should be able to get a fair shot at one for less money, but it might take a lot of research on your part.

yes.. I helped build the website and logo design.

They have 1300 high fence and a lot of free range hunting.

the marion junction acreage, about 10 min drive from main place, has some 150" monsters. just look at the pics from the hunts.

This is his 3rd year selling hunts. Doe weigh close to 120+ and a large buck will be well over 200+lbs.

Stan and the grounds folk are awesome people.

very close to 3,000 free range acres

i shot at and missed a 10 point last year that we later scored, from a picture, at 155".

North end of the property, free range. 3 weeks later, from the Testimonials, Brett killed that big boy from the same box I was hunting.

Dont put much stock in these numbers. Opportunity can mean anything from "the hunter had a shot but the deer was out of range" to "we saw a big one cross the road while we were driving back to camp". Kill rate doesnt mean shite if the quality isnt there and many outfitters pad their kill rates substantially.

If you pay big $$$ and don't get a deer...you can always come here to vent right?

Asking an outfitter their success rate gets you answer which is about as honest as a sorority girls answer when asked how many guys she's slept with....

MM,
I posted a thread about my pd hunt in different forum. Here is the link, including two graphic pics of pd's who had "altercations" w/ Hornady V-Max bullets......the bullet won. I plan on posting a thread here, as well. I'm not current on what kind of pics are acceptable and what kind aren't. What do you think--Are the pics too graphic for the OB? LINK

Yeah that pic doesn't do it justice if it scored 169". I just called Giles island's number from their website, but no answer.

Or Tara wildlife outside of Vicksburg. It is across highway from our camp, Deer are a problem in Mississippi, we are being over run in this area now. No need to travel 1000 of miles unless you just want too. There are plenty of deer in the 130 and up class.

One other plus is that you can shoot poison at Tara and judging by the kill photos on their website they encourage it.

BTW,
Thanks for the heads up. I didn't realize one has to sign up for the site to view the photo's. I'll post an actual thread on the OB soon.
