Charged it up and noticed the below. This was also the first time I just left it plugged up over night. I checked all the wiring under the hood where the charger is. All was tight.

Anyone have an idea?

Prong loose in the plug causing an arc?

I've seen that before but never studied on it. That's my best guess

Yeah I'd guess a loose prong causing high resistance connection. Or probably not a loose prong per say but the spring connection inside the female end of extension cord.

loose electrical connection=high resistance=heat

Ill check that out and replace the end. Went ahead and plugged it up tonight with a different cord to see if it does the same thing

I bet most anything with a different extension cord you'll be good. Hopefully the male end on your Ranger is still OK. I've got a 12ga extension cord that I need to replace the end on because if something draws power on it for an extended amount of time, the whole plug end will get quite hot.

Its the same reason that cheap contractor grade electrical receptacles inside a home can cause fires. Over time the flimsy contact springs inside the outlet get weak leading to a poor/high resistance connection.

Go to an electrical supply house and buy a Woodhead 1447 and 1547, install properly, and don't worry about it again

need to amp probe the wire from the plug to the batteries. Could be corrosion issue at the batteries and even under the wire conduit.

How long of an extension cord is that one with the burnt connector?
