R1331 for boat taxes

I have been on hold with the state for close to 40 min. Purchased a boat from a broker in Texas.
Can anyone just confirm that the Net Sales Price they are looking for is just the boat with no Trailer sales price included? Would be nice if this was on their FAQ. I'm guessing it should be excluded.
Side note what is required to get the boat on the water? Is just initiating the registration process enough or do I need to have numbers provided first?
Alas I would be asking LAWLF or LDR but the 1 person they must have answering all the questions for the entire state is out to lunch.

There should be a breakdown for what you paid for the boat hull, the motor and the trailer. I went downtown to the dept of Revenue and paid state taxes first and then went to pay local taxes at the governmental building i=on St. Louis. Once all that is done go to LDW on Quailrun to register your boat. Much easier doing it all in person.

You're going to pay:
DMV - Trailer taxes - need bill of sale with trailer value
Dept. of Revenue - Boat and Motor State taxes - need bill of sale with boat and motor value
Parish Tax Office - Boat and Motor Parish taxes - need bill of sale with boat and motor value
You can put the boat in the water technically once you've applied for registration. Keep the yellow paper in your boat at all times and be able to produce it if you are stopped on the water.

No doubt. Their phone system sucks. Just go to the LDR in Baton Rouge or New Orleans. The NOLA one is NOT appointment only anymore. They're actually pretty helpful. Bring your invoice and bill of sale.

Did they change it? It use to be if you bought from a dealer you needed to pay sales tax on it all but if you bought out of state from a individual all you had to pay sales tax on was the trailer.

Anyone know if I can go to the Dept of Revenue location on United Plaza Blvd off Essen? Would prefer not to drive downtown.

Great info, I'll be in this predicament at the end of April. Thank everyone

lsufan is on point. I just did this as well. I filled out and printed the form off the web.
(La Dept of Rev) Took it to their office (617 N.3rd Street Downtown BR)Since I bought used I just needed their stamp and didn't have to pay taxes. Then I took it to EBR Parish Tax Assessors office a few blocks up across from the court house and got them to stamp the form as well. Took longer to park than to have it done. Now one more trip down to WLF and I'll have my boat regis and numbers. Easy peasy.
If buying new, you'll pay like 4% State then about the same for the parish you live in (give or take).
Bring notarized bills of sale for boat and motor, and "certificates of origin" or titles with you as well as the 1331 form.
The trailer title and registration/plate can be done at the DMV or any one of these "tags and title" notary type places.

I was stopped last year before I got my #'s. Just showed a bill of sale and told the agent that I was waiting on my #'s to come in. That was that.

I'm not sure how that works if it's a boat through a broker.
As I understand it, you don't pay taxes on a used boat through a private sale. You pay taxes on a new boat or a boat bought through a dealership.

Depends on who holds title. In this case the broker had title so I have to pay.
