What would you go with Wilderness systems ride 135 or Jackson cuda 14?
i'm 6'4" 230lb, fishing mostly in marshes and in the basin. i've researched pretty intensely and am leaning towards the Ride 135. the tunnel hull is speaking to me.
follow up question- besides rod holders and anchor system (i like the trolley) are there any other must have modifications for yak fishing?

Nope. Mine is bare bones other than the rod holders and I catch plenty of fish out of it.

Tclay, my American blood wont allow me to buy a jap made vehicle. my Pa shed his blood in the Pacific like many others defending our coasts.
I'm looking into a kayak so i can get back to salt water while still living within my means. hopefully can get a nice bay boat (paid for with cash, i try to follow Dave Ramsey's advice) when i can afford it.

I'm just messing with you. I have a basic yak I use on small waters...
Rod holders, and can holders are pretty crucial.

Cuda no doubt.
Get a fish bag instead of an ice chest.

I would get the cuda 14 of those 2. But if I were buying a kayak tomorrow to fish the basin and marshes, it would come down to the native ultimate 12 and the cuda 12. The native is extremely stable to stand and fish out of, and is the lightest of all the options. The cuda 12 has almost all of the amenities of the cuda 14 in a smaller, more maneuverable and manageable package. Unless you plan on fishing lots of big, open water or traveling long distances, the cuda 14 is just more boat than you need.

Give John a call at Pack & Paddle and demo them both at the same time.
Those are the two I demo'd together last year after narrowing it down. I ended up with the Ride, which I felt was more stable. The Cuda is the faster boat though.

i actually go into pack and paddle on the reg, and they are beyond helpful. they got me into fly fishing, now i just need to get rid of my canoe (slowest watercraft ever) and get a yak. sad to admit but never fished out of a yak only paddled down a slow river and on honeymoon in Jamaica.
thanks for the help guys and i still have a more saving to do before i pull the trigger, i plan on trying both but i know the cuda had a few extras over the Ride but i need to see if they out number the stability. I can stand and fish comfortably out of my wide arse canoe but with my American sized frame i want to make sure the kayak will be stable enough for that

Both great boats. I like the Cuda over the Ride, but both would be fine for your needs.

Both great boats but if I'm not mistaken the cuda is nearly twice the price as the Ride and IMHO the small amount of extras you get simply isn't worth the higher price tag.
