PT92

If you want a 92 just buy a Beretta. I have 3 Beretta 92’s and all fine guns.

For anyone else who's curious, I think BOPE is an acronym for Batalhão de Operações Policiais Especiais ("Special Police Operations Battalion" of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil).

I've never had a Taurus PT92, but I've been pleased w/ the Taurus revolvers I've had (22LR, 38 Special and 44 Special) as well as one of the OB's favorite guns to hate, the Taurus G2c

Pick up some thinner grips at LOK Grips. Made a big difference in my Beretta 92s. Plus you choose from a variety of grip surfaces with or without a thumb recess.

I have the Beretta, not the Taurus.

That said, I believe the appeal is that the Taurus has the frame-mounted safety, while the Beretta has the slide-mounted safety.

Go look online at gun forums, and you will find a ton of discussions on that; the Taurus being praised for having a 1911-style safety. And criticized for not being the actual name-brand option.
Most of that has cooled down now, because they both fall into the DA/SA hammer-fired, metal-framed "wonder nine" that used to be so popular a couple decades ago.

Nowadays, the big divide is more the Glock group (striker fired, polymer frame without safety; tactical tupperware, fantastic plastic etc) vs 'old school' metal frame pistols (1911, Sig P226/229, CZ 75, Beretta 92 etc).

I remember reading the Beretta v Taurus threads, and the Taurus had it's supporters. Not a Taurus design, better safety placement, etc. While Beretta fans tended to say the Beretta action felt slicker (and mine is damn smooth), and of course some brand-snob action going on.

I've looked at them over the years, and I suspect I'd like yours better than the newer ones with the big billboard on the slide.
And my personal favorite handgun, a pre B CZ 75 with the round trigger guard, has the same manual of operations.

But the Beretta doesn't bug me, as it shares manual of arms with my 3rd Gen S&Ws, Makarovs, and various FEG "Walther" clones.
