I have a couple of the Honda 2000s and the really nice thing about them is that they have a plug to drain the carb so you know it's empty.

I don't know much about generators, but I have a makita 6100 and it runs like a beast.

I've got a Coleman Powermate 6250. A friend bought it for me after I helped him when Ivan hit GS. It's been running 18 hours a day for 3 days now. Pretty good on gas too. Kind of noisy.

multiquip, Honda, Yamaha or generac are all excellent choices. try to find one wit drain on Carb and gas tank.

seafoam is more of a cleaner and stabil is more for storage.

there's a product called startron that does both so I quite using the others and haven't had a problem nor have my customers that have switched.

Honda are the best, but are expensive.

I bought a generac 5500 yesterday. It was around 800 bucks. It is still sitting in the box, so I cant say if it is any good

Honda isn't the best its the quietest..

generac Yamaha and multiquip are just as dependable. just not as quiet.

I've worked on small engines since 1985 so I speak from experience.

I have a Coleman powermate. Have had it since Gustav and its runs like a clock. It has never failed to start on the first pull. Just take care of it and just about any brand will be good. I keep the oil changed, don't overload it and keep stabilizer in the gas. I also crank it up and run it once a month, year round.

All fuel additives will increase the amount of time it takes gasoline to varnish up in your carb but you can guarantee it will eventually turn to varnish no matter what type of additive you mix in with it.

Whats the OB opinion on this. The only time i would use this would be for power outtages which rarely happen in my subdivision. Neighbor would sell this to me for $800, its easily worth $1200. Too good of a deal to pass up or jump on it?

I like the generacs. Their engines are purpose built for generators. They're loud though and are still susceptible to carb problems but as far as the larger generators go their pretty good. $800 is a good deal for a generator that size,I'd jump on it if you have the $

Besides putting stabil and running Carb dry, what else should I do for putting it away?

Remove the bowl after each use and spray down with marine fogging oil. That's the only way to stop gasoline residue from varnishing up the internal carb jets.

I don't give a damn what you put in your fuel. Seafoam,Startron,Stabil.

If it sits on those carb parts it will varnish.

The design of the Honda And Yamaha carbs do a damn good job of fighting off jet clog problems.

Exactly what I bought for Gustov. Runs like a champ. I have a 220 on my back porch I plug it into and run the whole house except my big AC. Use window unit instead.
