Prescription Sunglasses Thread

I am about to go through the process of getting Rx sunglasses again and I have a few questions. My last pair was a Lenscrafters brand with polarized lenses, and they were great, but I am gonna go with something designed specifically for fisherman this time. They are so damn expensive that I thought I would get the OB's opinion before I start shopping, so here are a few of my questions if anyone has advice...
-What is the best deal these days?
I already have my Rx so should I get them online and bring them somewhere or should I just pay the premium price at a local shop and have it all done there? Any tips?
-Costas vs Maui Jim
I met a salesman recently that claimed ever since Costas have become so popular, the original company sold out and they are now mass produced so the quality and customer service has gone downhill in a big way. Has anyone else heard this? This person could have just had a vested interest in selling his brand so I'm not sure
-What is the best lens color for all around fishing?
I fish everything from ponds to blue water so I want the best all around lens color. Mostly freshwater/marsh; I only see blue water 5-6 times a year
Any other advice? TIA

This go round I decided to go the transition lense route. So far, I'm a fan.

Yes sir, the ones I have are.
My only complaint about them are they don't get super dark when driving due to the windshield blocking the uv rays, but they do get dark enough to knock the glare off.

buy you a pair of Costa Brine's.
Go to your eye dr. that deals with costa
ask him to send the Brines to Costa and put Rx lenses in them for you.
Amber shade.
glasses before Rx $250
to add Rx lenses ~$110

Are you talking about regular eyeglasses with transition lenses? If so that's not what I'm looking for

Just got some Costa Harpoons with the brown lens. I had the samei n non-Rx for years and they were great, but Alx was going too fast in his Skeeter and they flew off in the Red River.
Downside, 570 bones from my eye doctor. So I'll get something to hold them on my head when fishing.
If you have your Rx, you can get sunglasses from Warby Parker for $150. Not as snazzy as Costas, but almost 1/4 the price makes them worth a try.

i was quoted just under $700.00 for a pair of maui jims with bifocals (progressive ) lens
i couldn't pull the trigger

It's ridiculous what a pair of decent polarized rx sunglasses cost, which is why I got the transitions. My eye doc wanted $550 for Maui Jim Rx's WITH insurance.

I am on my 2nd pair of Maui Jims, these are the first ones with Rx but I cannot recommend them enough. The optics are light years ahead of any of my normal glasses. They are pricey but very much worth it imo.

There are endless arguments for specific brands. Go with what you like. DO NOT buy from your eye doctor. Go to the company yourself. Some of the websites allow you to buy prescriptions directly from them (Oakley). Some make you call them. Regardless, they're going to give you the best price.
